DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE SHORE
The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -
Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!
When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)
"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."
They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."
Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.
"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."
And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

[After packing a couple stabilizers, a bag lunch, some canned soups, and all his live ammunition (and some of the paint rounds, you never know); making sure his gun is clean and loaded and ready to go; wrapping the more-or-less functional fishing rod he made in the folded-up blanket Izunia gave him like a bedroll; and slinging the whole mess onto his back, Prompto is ready to go. The little flashlight attached to his clothes comes in handy down here in the caves, though the glowing crystals help, too, of course.]
What's the range these stabilizer things cover, again? How far out do you think we have to go to make a difference?
[Thanks to Prompto's presence, the emotional breeze down here's never going to be gentler than a stiff wind, and he has to raise his voice a little even when it's relatively calm.]
March 9th, Afternoon/Evening: Glitterstone Beach
[Prompto doesn't want anything to do with that blood sea ever again, so it's lucky for him he ends up coming out on the Glitterstone side instead. Delighted by the sparkling landscape, he runs around collecting scales by the handful, even though there probably isn't any use for them. Someone's room is going to be pretty as hell once the field trip's over.
Unfortunately, when the sun starts to set, his flashlight turns back on automatically, drawing a bunch of refraction orbs right to him.]
Wha--aw, crap!
[What are these tiny rainbow Bomb daemon fucking things?!
Later, once the sun's died and all the refraction orbs with it, Prompto wearily makes camp, which basically just means curling up in his blanket and trying to get comfortable on the gravel until the dragon eels come out. Then, awed, he goes to crouch at the lagoon's edge, water lapping at the toes of his boots, and watches the lights. Eventually, he remembers himself enough to take pictures: The colors, the stars, the Fissure-crossed sky above.
He scrolls back through the results only for his breath to catch faintly; he's gone too far. That's Niflheim. There's Aranea.
Here are the guys, back in Altissia, when there still was an Altissia to be in. Suddenly terribly alone, Prompto raises his eyes once more to that little patch of starlight up above, trying to keep it together.]
Guys...
March 11th, Morning: Skyclimb Cliffs
[Prompto's supplies are a lot lighter now, so it's both easier and prudent to head up the cliffs to restock. He searches for eggs at first, then goes down to try prying shellfish off the rocks for a while, but patience has never been one of Prompto's virtues. By late morning, he's sitting in the shade of the northern curve of the cliffs instead, working with some of those colorful scales from Glitterstone Beach.
For the rest of the day, Prompto's out on the rocks as far as he can go, fishing with his makeshift rod. The scales have helped make for a pretty alluring, well, lure, and he's seen Noct do this plenty of times. How hard can it be?
...
...He's so bored he could die.]
Mar 9, night
Yeah it's the usual, Izunia curled up in his chair napping. Or, not quite napping, this time, from the way the blanket shifts and he sits up properly. Unlike Prompto, he doesn't have a flashlight - instead there's a flash of Armiger blue and a vial of fire energy in his hand -
Before he catches sight of the light and relaxes.]
Astrals, I thought you were a daemon there for a moment...

I think the spacial distortion is worse in here than it was out on the beach... probably doesn't hurt to place them fairly close together - [And her words are cut off by a badly stifled yawn-] - excuse me.

OTA
The very first thing on Stone's agenda: food. With there not being a lot of red meat in the station, he's determined to eat a couple sandsharks to hold him over for a while, and then kill a couple more to save the meat. He sits patiently at the shoreline in groundling form, all gray and old and human-looking, until a sandshark attacks... then he shifts back up into the big, black, winged creature he also can be and pounces. He picks up a scratch or two, but the sharks' teeth aren't as effective against scales as they would be against skin, and his claws and teeth are very effective against sand-encrusted hide. Plus, he's bigger than they are.
He wolfs one down, still in the big black dragon-form... then shift back to groundling form, scrubs the rest of the blood off with sand, and settles in to wait again, a little further down the beach, occasionally making little splashes in the waves with one foot to at as a lure. This will be an all-day affair, and he justifies it by setting one singular stabilizer down over by the cliffs. Even once he's done, he half-buries himself in the sand and dozes in the sun to digest.
March 10, Day: Skyclimb Cliffs/The Fingers
Cliffs aren't much of a detriment when you're a winged creature, and they're even less of one when you're a winged creature with an 80-foot wingspan. Stone hardly even bothers with his wings, he just uses his claws and it hardly takes any time at all before then he's at the top, perched there like a gigantic scaly crow, looking out over the ocean and down along the clifftops. He plucks out one of the bottle crabs after setting in a stabilizer or two, pops it out of its shell, and crunches it down, claws and all. If anyone needs a lift up, he's happy to carry them.
Once the clifftop is secure, he shifts back down to groundling form again and wanders down the cliffline to the Fingers-- tripping here and there en route by the tangleweed, which then gets a taste of his teeth so he can free himself. He chews on severed pieces idly as he walks, because hey, he needs his vegetables, too.
Once he gets to the edges of the Fingers and sets down another stabilization device, he shifts again, mostly so he can try to pounce and eat one of the nearest drifting Helios fish. Eating is pretty much his biggest concern, right now, okay.
March 11, Day: Lighthouse and Tempest Seacaves
Today is not all about eating, for once. Stone climbs into the top of the broken lighthouse to investigate and descends the stairs down into the caverns below. This time he has to stay in groundling form-- his other form literally won't fit-- so anyone else down there gets the dubious benefit of his conversation while he finds places to leave more of the devices and prods at crystals curiously.
And gets zapped by one or two, though he doesn't generate a lot of the emotional wind himself-- not until he gets zapped and that ratchets up his annoyance level.
March 10, the Fingers
"Wh-whoa!"
Maybe he ought to reach for his gun--who knows what that thing is, or if it's friendly?--but his first reflex, his forever reflex, is instead to step back so as much of Stone is visible as possible, raise his camera, and take one hell of a picture.
"Got it!"

"Hey-" He starts, "I didn't know you could do..." He waves his free hand around in a vague gesture to communicate what he means, "...that."
Sure, he had seen Stone around the station once or twice in passing, but this is his first time ever seeing him like this.

March 11, Seacaves
Kurama doesn't generate much emotional wind either; not when he's here alone. By himself, it's easy to bury everything that might set the wind off too much. His control of his emotions might not be what it used to be but it's still more than good enough for this.
A glowing plant finishes growing at his feet where the redhead just turned a corner in the caverns, holding a mid-sized wind crystal in one hand.

[Aya is strong enough that after taking a couple stabilizers, mostly so she can write about them later - what better way to figure out these things than to just try them out - she immediately nyoooooms off to the southernmost part of the beach, making sure to stay where it's slightly drier.]
Now, where's someplace solid enough to put this...
[Ignoring the directions would be kind of rude for the first one, but uh. Sand isn't exactly very stable, and there sure is a lot of it here.]
3/10, midday; The Fingers
[The nature of these Semi-Precarious Rocky Outcroppings makes it a lot easier to find good spots to put a stabilizer - while it's low tide, she flies into one of the spaces between them and forces another device into the cliffside.
However, just as she's coming back up she's hit with a spray, grabbing onto the edge... and something else grabs back. And that's when her troubles (for today) begin.]
3/10, Them Fingers
[Prompto yanks his fishing pole out of the water and runs over to help her against--whatever it is that's got her. He flops right onto his belly and catches her arm, just like in the movies.]

[As suggested, Goro stows several of the stabilizers in a bag tied around his waist, at his right hip, that by all rights should only fit one of them. Since he already came in with a first aid kit of his own, in addition to healing powers, he passes those over and puts the bagged lunch in his pouch.
Then he heads over past the entrance to the lighthouse and a pair of angelic wings appear folded on his back.]
I should be able to carry one other person down with me, if there's anyone who can't fly and would rather not navigate the caverns.
[March 9 - Skyclimb Cliffs]
[The cliffs are, without a doubt, Goro's favorite part of the beach. Sure, he could fly along them looking for a place to put the stabilizer...but where would be the fun in that? Besides, he'd miss out on all the treasure tucked away in the crevices.
Instead, he's opted to take the more mundane approach: putting his rock climbing skills to good use. He moves along the cliffs with impressive ease, digging his fingers and toes into the crevices and pulling himself up or along ledges to places he'll be able to get higher.
Every now and then, he instead pulls a water crystal out of a crack. Usually, after pausing to look it over, he shoves it into a pocket and continues on...except he's not the only one on these cliffs interested in trinkets. His attention is focused on adjusting his grip on the cliff when he hears the telltale meow, and he doesn't realize until too late that these gulls steal more than just food. The bird snatches his prize out of his hand, winging off with it as the unfortunate explorer stumbles and has to cling to the rocks to avoid falling the rough dozen feet he's made it up by this point.]
[March 11 - Glitterstone Beach]
[Okay, he takes it back, maybe this is his favorite part of the beach. The scales glittering in the sand are beautiful, and exactly the right sort of flashy to grab Goro's attention. He's still keeping an eye out for places to set up the stabilizers, of course, but he can't quite help himself from gathering up the glass-like scales and stowing them in his bottomless pockets. Maybe it's not exactly a productive use of his time, but look. They might be useful.
Or maybe they're just shiny and he's living up to his nickname of Crow. Either way, they sure do have his attention.]
[Either night - Bloodsands Beach or Glitterstone Beach]
[People might have noticed by now that Goro's something of an insomniac, but all this exploring (and random encounters) have left even him drowsy. After dark, he sets up camp, such as it is: a blanket or two and pillow from the Station spread out over the sand, with wrapped food set out on top of it for dinner. If he sees anyone passing, he'll wave them over, a cup of hot chocolate in one hand.]
Good evening. If you're hungry, I brought some extra food. I'm afraid it's all things that can be eaten cold, but it's certainly enough to share.

I eat a lot, and wouldn't want to take up your food that you brought for yourself.
[He pauses, and the tip of his tongue-- longer and thinner than a human's tongue, though not quite to the point of looking like it belongs to a lizard-- flicks out.]

[Pidonus didn't pack too much gear beyond her normal items like her sword... Though she did grab the bag lunch, more out of respect to Bottom for the effort than actual need. Then, it was out to work, trying to find a couple locations and get some loot. After a while of this, though, she might be sighted doing something unusual:
Namely, opening a portal in thin air in front of her, when she thinks no one's looking. The focused expression on her face as she sets it up makes it clear this is one of her magics.
Feel free to interrupt her before she steps in with some of the scales.]
March 10th, Day: Skyclimb Cliffs
[Pidonus is, right now, quietly looking at some of the clams, interested...]
These should offer some good loot...
March 9th, Day: Glitterstone Beach
[Touma spoke from personal experience. His earlier attempts at collecting scales had rewarded him with a good handful of brightly colored ticks and slight blood loss. Although he has no idea where her portal connects to, he felt it was important to warn her about the parasites before she accidentally transports them to her room or somewhere else equally as bad inside Keystone Station.]

March 9, Afternoon - Night, Glitterstone Beach
[And by the time she's made it down through the caverns and out onto the beach, she's more or less got her second wind. And what a beach - much less ominous than the one she'd originally found herself on, several weeks before.
She's got stabilizers to place, but maybe first it's time to investigate the contents of that bagged lunch she picked up on her way out this morning. So mid-afternoon, the troll can be found well back of the tideline, sitting crosslegged in the gravel and peering thoughtfully under the top layer of bread of a cheese sandwich.
That night, she's further along the beach; she's also completely without any kind of artificial light source. Between her dark coloration and her darker clothes, she's liable to fade into the shadows, at least as far as most people with day-acclimated eyesight are concerned. Not that she's trying to sneak up on anyone, of course. It's just a thing that might happen given how ridiculously night-blind most humans and similar are.]
March 10, Morning, Lighthouse
[She's not ready to head back entirely but... maybe just take a few hours to regroup in relative safety, huh? Grab a powernap. Which is why anyone back at the Lighthouse mid-morning on the tenth may find Jetshard sitting curled up in an out-of-the-way corner.
Unfortunately, napping had sounded good but it's proving not to be that simple, and she's not actually that soundly asleep. In fact, the footfalls of anyone approaching are enough to rouse her; she looks up, pushing her glasses back into place, and offers a smile that's only slightly bleary.]
Doing alright out there?
March 10, Evening, Bloodsands Beach
[She'd gotten maybe a third of the way along the beach - she thinks, anyway, it's hard to tell with the fissure messing with things - when the sun had dipped below the line of the cliffs entirely, and -]
Damn it.
[She'd had a run-in with the blood water on her initial trip to the beach, when she'd first arrived; she has no intention of a repeat performance. But she can already feel the nagging... curiosity, anxiety? Need to go down to the water and investigate, and even knowing why that's a bad idea, it's still much stronger than it had been during the day. Time to head back, she supposes.
And to keep an eye out for anyone else she sees straying toward the bloo- the water, on the way. Anyone she spots out here on this stretch of beach, closer to the water than she is or moving in that direction, is greeted with a shout -] Hey! Careful, there!
Glitterstone, 9 night
Which tends to make some people a bit more jittery than normal. Good thing the stars are bright enough to see that the figure is humanoid...
Also, a good thing that Izunia still has Prompto's button flashlight clipped to his scarf at the neck. He still really obviously jumps at the sound of Jetshard's footsteps, whirling around with his rapier coming to hand in a gleam of blue.
Then the light falls on a familiar outline of horns, and he relaxes and sighs.]

[Perhaps someone less excitable than Astolfo would be better suited for navigating this place- if he were someone calmer and more collected, there wouldn't be such a sizable wind barreling through the caverns.
As annoying as it is to keep having his cape and hair blown back into his face, he continues to gleefuly explore eastwards of the caves, admiring the glowing crystals and dropping a transmitter here and there.]
Isn't this place cool? These crystals are so pretty!
Mar 11, Night, Glitterstone beach
[In the later hours, Astolfo can be found wandering up and down the water's edge, occasionally splashing his feet around when the tide comes to meet him. He looks out onto the ocean, water pooling around his ankles.]
Ah, it'd be so nice to go for a swim right now.
March 11th
[Pidonus had walked, this time, her steps more-or-less audible as she approached Astolfo. Notably, she was still walking in heels
despite getting on Violet Evergarden's cse for doing the same thing, even on the loose gravel of the beach.](no subject)

BOSS FIGHT: YOU ASKED FOR THIS
...The biggest goddamn seagull you've ever seen, or ever will seen, in your life.
Or at least, that's what you have to assume it is - it's kind of hard to tell, because of the way light twists around it. While it has a normal shadow, there's a distortion of the light around the bird that makes it nearly impossible to see directly. Based on the size of the shadow, though, it's probably about twenty feet tall...
Also, it seems to be territorial and kind of pissed, from the way it screams at anyone and anything that approaches, including an unfortunate landshark that's picked up and thrown further up the beach, the marks of a sharp beak in its flesh. Perhaps non-combatants should stay away from this one...
KING OF THE BEACH: FIGHT START
(Remember: This is what happens when you keep telling your mod how evil seagulls are.)
no subject
Okay, this is apparently happening now.
She flies closer, though hopefully not close enough to draw the demon bird's ire, and leans in as close as possible, squinting. Yes... this is definitely a giant, semi-invisible seagull she's looking at. She's not sure whether to laugh at the absurdity of it or fear the monster that could easily rend her limb from limb.
For the moment, she simply has Catria tread air while she continues to examine the bizarre creature as best she can and tries to formulate some kind of potential plan of attack.
