The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -

Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!

When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)

"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."

They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."

Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.

"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."

And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

[The whip that snaps out to wind around the thieving bird at least isn't thorned this time; Kurama doesn't see any need to kill the things just for being nuisances. He drags it back and removes the crystal from the gull's grip, turning it over thoughtfully in his fingers.

He drifts down a little to Goro's level, giving his boyfriend a terribly amused look from his spot floating in the air.]

A bit disingenuous to clutch at handholds like that, isn't it, darling?

Yes, well, my reflexes haven't yet caught up to the fact that I have better ways of avoiding hitting the ground.

[Now that his mind has caught up to what's happening, he lets go of the cliff and floats over to Kurama with a huff.]

Still, that's an odd thing for a seagull to go after...

I suppose that's a fair enough point.

[His huff gets a smile and Kurama offers the stolen crystal back to him with a little bit of a flourish.]

It's odd to see hermit crabs big enough to live in bottles. Perhaps the seagulls are affected by the Fissure as well. ...it would explain why they meow.

[He trades the crystal for a kiss, then looks up at the nests.]

If the Fissure has influenced them toward this sort of behavior, I'm certain we'll find some interesting things in their nests.

[Definitely a good trade as far as Kurama's concerned. His gaze follows Goro's towards the nest.]

I was thinking that myself. It's the most logical place for the birds to bring their prizes.

And they stole something from me...I'd be a poor thief if I didn't retaliate, now wouldn't I?

[...Yeah, he's just as much of a magpie as these birds.]

Turnabout is fair play.

[And it's been ages since Kurama did any thieving just for fun. Stealing from birds' nests isn't likely to present all that much of a challenge, but there's entertainment to it. Especially since he's with Goro.]

Not that I've ever cared about fair...I should tell you some stories about Sae-san's Palace sometime.

[With that, he manifests his wings just to give them a good flap as he heads up toward the nearest nest.]

I'd like that. Perhaps I could trade you some stories of my own less virtuous days.

[The little smile that tugs on Kurama's lips at Goro's clear and deliberate extra-ness is unmistakably amused and fond. He leaves his own wings concealed as he follows up after Goro.

Mostly because Goro hasn't seen them yet and let's not get distracted.]

I would love to hear them.

[Shoo birds. Hopefully the sight of something huge flying toward the nest on even bigger wings will be enough to scare them off?]

[Not at first! They hunker down until he's practically on top of them, protecting their treasures, and only then do they fly away.]

It's a deal, then~

[Well, gone is gone, even if they waited until the last moment. Kurama flies up a little higher, one hand resting at the back of Goro's neck as he peeks over his boyfriend's head into the newly abandoned nests.]

[He's definitely not going to be deterred by some cranky birds, that's for sure. He folds his wings as the gulls fly away, then takes a look for himself.]

[Most of the shiny things this nest has are junk - shards of beach glass, scales from Glitterstone - but there is, in fact...

...A tube of dark purple micro glitter, the plastic casing scratched by its hard life but, thankfully, not leaking sparkles everywhere.]

[On the one hand, Kurama's responsible side wonders if he should be confiscating this for the greater good.

Unfortunately for that hand, Kurama is still a kitsune and there is a lot of potential for hilarity in that tube.]

They seem to share your tastes to a remarkable degree.

[If that responsible hand isn't about to quickly confiscate the glitter, Goro's going to snatch it from the nest.]

I guess they think they're crows, as well as cats.

[To no surprise at all from Kurama. Who is definitely going to be watching his boyfriend carefully until he's sure that tube is used up.]

They'll be in good company around this place.

[He gives a playful grin as he pockets the tube. Along with a couple of those scales.]

Caw~

We should probably find a place up here for one of those stabilizers and move on, though. We do have a lot of ground to cover.

[What he gets is a fondly amused headshake.]

I'll remember this the next time you try to claim that you aren't cute.

And yes, agreed. Preferably somewhere a bit sheltered so the other ridiculous birds won't be too quick to notice it.

[A little hunting around and he finds a niche in the cliff faces that looks like it might work.]

[He's not going to bother refuting the claim that he's a ridiculous bird, not when he just made a joke about how apt his code name is. Especially not while he currently has crow wings, which he tucks against his back as he floats over and reaches for his bag.]

I looks large enough to me.

Of course you can. When it isn't cute.

[Grinning at him and going 'Caw' is cute, though. Better luck next time, Goro.

Kurama slips out of the way to let Goro place the stabilizer; he can carry a lot more of them, after all.]

Hopefully once we get these areas stabilized, I'll be able to start some outdoor gardens.
