DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE SHORE

The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -

Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!

When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)

"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."

They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."

Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.

"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."

And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

[In the end, the gull manages to successfully shake him off. Pain shoots up his shoulder as he fell to ground with a dull thump. Before he could recover from his short fall, the heavily injured gull begins to wildly lash out at its surroundings. It was the desperate actions of an animal certain of its death and he was currently lying on the ground at the very epicenter of its rage. With no time to stand back up and the gull indiscriminately stomping all around him, he tries his best to roll out of the way in hopes of getting out of this fight unscathed.

Sadly, Touma has never been a lucky individual. As he tries to escape, the gull unintentionally nails him with one of its wild stomps. The vicious blow strikes him square in the chest. Blood fills his mouth as his crumpled form lays on the sand in horrific pain. As crippling as the strike was, Touma knew without a doubt that if he stays there any longer his death was certain. Gathering all his strength, he grits his teeth and forces himself to begin crawling.

Thankfully, he manages to distance himself from the gull before it finally succumbs to its injuries and falls over. Satisfied with surviving the fight, Touma allows his exhaustion to overtake him as he lays sprawled on the beach.]

[Well, at least he'd managed not to get pinned or anything. That's something she guesses.

When she reaches his side, the troll drops to one knee in the sand next to him, setting down her medical bag at her side, and reaches down to put a hand on his shoulder. Not shaking him - a spinal injury's still a definite possibility - but if he's going to lash out at physical contact she'd rather give him an opportunity to get it out of his system before she starts trying to take vitals.]

Touma? You still conscious, kid?

[Besides flinching and wincing in pain, Touma doesn't make any attempts to stop her. Instead, he flashes her the best smile he can muster.]

That stupid bird sure had a lot HP, huh.

[He finishes his sentence with a bloody cough. ]
dubiouslychthonic: (go on)

[Ok well if he's not going to like... try and bite her or anything, she'll move on to checking his pulse as she talks to him. If he's joking around, she's at least a little less worried than she had been initially. Still pretty concerned, though.] Most megafauna tends to be hard to kill if your strategy is to sit on its back and not use a weapon.

Can you feel your toes?

[Oh...that sure doesn't look good. The fact that Touma is still responsive and able to move also immediately disqualifies his most powerful healing skill, even without being aware of Touma's immunity to anything supernatural.]

I have some healing abilities that may be able to help. They're mainly meant to address minor or moderate injuries, but I've hardly had to use any of my psychic resources today.

[Touma responds to Jetshard's question by wiggling his feet.]

While I appreciate the offer, your healing abilities won't do me any good. My right hand prevents that kind of stuff from working on me.

You knew you were immune to supernatural healing and you still jumped on the giant scavenger's back. How did you survive childhood?

[Well, he's conscious and seems to be coherent, and he's not paralyzed. The situation's better than it could be, anyway. She sits back on her heels, eyes focusing on the middle distance as she engages her computer headpiece to message back up to the station.] Hey, Top? We're going to need a bit of med-evac down here if you'd be so good as to send a drone.

I'm sorry, he's what?!

[Late to the party she may be, but Wren runs over to check on Touma just in time to catch that little tidbit, and... yikes, that does not look good. Guilt roils her stomach as she sees the state he's in, and that she was apparently wrong to take for granted that he could simply be healed up afterwards only makes it worse.]
fantasykiller: (Trust me)

Supernatural healing isn't the only means of recovering. You'll be surprised how efficient medical science is at saving people. Back home, I would end up in the hospital so many times that the doctor helping me was almost convinced I had a nurse fetish.

[He lets out a sheepish laugh. Despite his upbeat attitude, it was clear that he was in a lot of pain. His laugh sounds forced and the smile on his face is strained.]

Got you, hold for like, a minute and a half. Strange'll meet you at the roof with a stretch.

[Here comes the drone, doot doot de doo.]

[She sighs. Heavily. At least they won't have to try and drag his grievously wounded carcass up through a series of electrified caverns, or gamble on a flightworthy teammate's ability to airlift him without exacerbating his injuries. The drones aren't the best ambulance service she's ever seen, but they're worlds better than the alternatives.]

Just because you can survive something does not mean you will, you know. Sooner or later you're going to find the limit of what supportive care and corrective surgery can do. If it happens on my watch I will be extremely annoyed with you.

But since you're so familiar with medical care, any known allergies?
