DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE SHORE

The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -

Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!

When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)

"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."

They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."

Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.

"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."

And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

Thanks.

[He tilts his head, accepting the cup, but rather than drinking, he holds it up and looks it over, closer to his good eye than his bad one.]

How did you do that? The making it appear out of nothing thing.

It's a psychic ability. I can create whatever liquid I think of, so long as I haven't done so three times already in the past twenty minutes.

It will also heal any minor injuries you might have picked up.

[He waves that off, but he does sip at the chocolate.]

I'm fine. Most of the time out here so far I've had scales, and there's not much I've found yet that can get through those. Thanks, though.

[...You know what? He can turn into a bird-man with blades for feathers. He's not even surprised.]

The drinks always have some sort of effect, so it doesn't actually make a difference.

So, you're a shapeshifter?

I am. My other form is much bigger.

[He pauses, considers, then explains,]

You would probably call it a dragon, or like one.

Ah, interesting! I've never actually seen something of that sort before that wasn't just a manifestation of emotion. Such creatures are purely mythological in my world.

Well, humans don't exist where I come from, so I guess we're even.

[He grins just a bit, showing sharp teeth.]

There's hundreds of intelligent species, but none of them like yours, that I've seen. Or like whatever you are, if you aren't actually human like most of these people.
foolishjustice: (Strange isn't it?)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2018-03-15 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[The sharp teeth don't really seem to bother him.]

I'm...a former human, you could say. It's a bit of a long story, but 'human, with some changes' is a good description. My own world doesn't have any other intelligent species, but I was introduced to others that do about a month before I arrived here.
scarsolderthanyou: (surprised)

Like how I was introduced to humans for six months or so before I got kidnapped here, too? Some other world dragged you in for a while?

[That's curious, someone else who's (maybe?) experienced the same thing he has.]
foolishjustice: (Delicious caffeine.)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2018-03-16 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The denizens rather than the world itself, but yes. Fifteen people, including myself, were brought from our own worlds to participate in a...'game' for training new death gods. That's why I'm no longer human.

[He picks his hot chocolate back up and drinks from it, as though the subject of his ascension is perfectly normal.]

[Stone gives Goro a mildly skeptical look. Death god? Seriously? It's not Goro in particular, just gods in general, that he tends not to take seriously.]

Well. That's worse than where I got kidnapped to, the first time. At least nobody tried to change me into anything else.
