Warnings: The odd inappropriate joke, plus the blanket warning that Mai's a murdergame CRAU so that might come up, given that there are a lot of others around here.

[Mai wanders Bloodsands Beach with a sword in one hand (plastic, though, with a chip on the very end) and a pillowcase in the other. She'll occasionally stop to try and pick something up and put it in the bag, which takes a while considering she refuses to let go of the sword, or give a tiny appreciative nod to the local seagulls and crabs. Still, it seems like she's investigating things.]

[Mai made a frightening amount of pea soup and it's taking up way too much space in the fridge, so she's finally just heating it up again and serving it up. If you're coming anywhere near this kitchen, you're getting a bowl and spoon placed in front of you.]

[Mai lives pretty close to this kitchen anyway, so it's easy for her to just pack everything in and go to bed. Even so, she takes a little time to add something new to her door.

You'll see her pull a bright bumper sticker out of her makeshift bag (pillowcase, it's just the pillowcase), peel it off the backing, and stick it on. The design? Well, it says HONK IF YOU LOVE BOOBIES, with an image of a blue-footed booby next to the text. In tiny text in the corner, there's some copyright information in an alien script that probably doesn't matter. Mai looks at this with a tiny, satisfied hum.]

In the freezer. They were up for trade. So I took them. But there were a lot.

Ah--! Do...

do you mind if I cook some of those? I'd use the pea soup, but there's a reason I can't.

Go ahead. [She gestures to the freezer.] So... You want to make something.

Yes, absolutely! I'm going to make cat food!

Cat-san?

[Mai immediately looks more alert.]

That sounds good. Animals are nice. Someone I know here brought a bird.

Yes, I learned it while I was working at the Mall. There was a cat cafe and one thing I learned from it was to make delicious homemade cat food.

Let's see, how about a meat...what should we cook? Chicken,tuna...?

We have tuna. And hamburger. ...And alien shrimp. [pause] Mall?

Oh! Hamburger. That's beef, that works perfectly, too.

[A pause, as she goes to get a cooking pan.]

Mm. The Mall. I was where Goro-san and and Kurusu-san and Kurama were.

[Mai stops in the middle of opening the freezer door.]

...That's right.

[She places the pan on the stove.]

I was there as well.

[Mai is about to close the door, but she stops, opens it, and takes out a package of hamburger meat. She sets it on the counter and shuts the freezer door.]

So that's how. You knew right away. ...Do you know about ours?

No, or...at least I only know a little. Just that people here were a part of it, and what you'd mentioned...ah, thank you.

[She bobs her head in thanks.]

What you mentioned to me about Bear-san. And...also, the argument people had about it.

Right. There were... A few arguments. But the big one was about Ardyn. He was one of us. Is.

Why Ardyn...san?

[Ardyn-san, right? That works for now.]

Something was affecting him once. It's his story to tell. But he hurt people and made enemies. Some of those enemies joined us. After he'd become a better person. ...We argued. It was like the other day.

...I see. Because people believed, that some things are unforgivable.

[Her hand tightens its grip on the pan handle.]

It...I guess I can imagine the struggle. Wondering if someone involved with doing terrible things can really be forgiven even if things change.

...You had an enemy, then. [Understandable.] I'm sorry.

...I don't know, to be honest.

[Deep breath.]

She was very important and special, though. Thinking about her...and coupled with what happened at the Mall, and what happened before, I feel complicated about everything.

...I don't know. But a lot of good people do bad things. And then decide they have to be bad.

[She...is silent at this, staring at the wall. That...hit a nerve.]

...[Mai gives a small frown and looks in the same direction.]

[She doesn't get it, but...]

[She slowly looks over at Mai. The beef is currently forgotten.]

...I have something I need say to everyone. I don't want to hide it because it would be wrong to. Even if it means other people will hate me here in this station.
