bathed in scarlet from the setting sun
Who: Yuuri and you!
What: Yuuri does something that bears a passing resemblence to settling in at the Keystone Station. In practical terms, this translates to sticking her nose into just about everything and doing a metric fuckton of stresscooking.
When: The week or so following the IC intro log.
Where: One prompt in the kitchen closest to Room #43 and one in the annex! As well as a general wildcard.
Warnings: Nothing currently worth warning for! Some passing references to murdergame unpleasentness might come up in the comments, though.
[ It's been a few days since the group of new arrivals landed back at the station and apart from the little pizza party set up for them, Yuuri hasn't really been up to mingling. She's not been shut up in her room, but she's been keeping to herself and the people she knows, for the most part. It's safer that way.
Restlessness is a funny little thing, though, and when you've started getting used to a life beyond staring at four walls again, it creeps up on you faster than you'd like. So as anxious and wound up as she is about this whole... everything, Yuuri figures that there probably isn't any harm in starting to familiarize herself with their new surroundings.
She mostly sticks to the main building, like she doesn't want to stray too far from the people she'd arrived with. While she's out and about, you'll mostly find her on the viewing deck and the roof – nice, outdoorsy places. If you want to catch her for anything, you might as well do it now. ]
annex
[ Yuuri's already looked around the annex briefly on her first night here, but she'd been a bit too frazzled to really take any of it in. Now, though, she's more prepared to explore.
She starts off poking around in the changing rooms, with a slightly hopeful look on her face. This whole setup looks very much like a public bath and her hopes are raised even higher when she opens the door and sees what looks like a huge bath. But then she gives the rules a proper look, sees the words hot tub and scrunches up her nose. Boo, disappointment.
Thankfully, the greenhouse is much less of a disappointment. She gives the place a long, slow circuit, and without even realizing it, she's already started to smile. After having a whole garden to tend to, the downsize in Tokyo had been a little hard to get used to. But a whole greenhouse? She's right at home.
If you're the planty sort as well, you'll probably find Yuuri here at some point or other, tending to the flowers and the plants with the easy, practiced hand of an experienced gardener. It's the most relaxed she's looked since arriving. ]
kitchen
[ Because of course Yuuri would end up in the kitchen. Of course.
It's not a one-off occasion, either. There's kitchenettes in each of the apartments, of course. But those seem to be a little too small for Yuuri's purposes. Mostly at mealtimes but occasionally at odd hours, too, you'll find her in the kitchen, busily cooking enough food to feed an army. Most of it is Japanese food, but some of it's decidedly not. And sometimes it's not even food at all, but baked goods.
But it all looks and smells very good so you might as well come and investigate, right? ]

consider him fed
I'm afraid not! But if you'd like some, I can fill a bowl for you once it's done.
[ This is mostly just cooking for the sake of cooking at this point, so it's not like anyone's going to miss a portion when it all goes into the fridge for leftovers later. ]

Aw, are you sure? I don't wanna take food off anybody's plate if you were making it for other people. Smells really great, though!
[Smells like home, in a way. Not home-home, but the idea of home--safe, warm, in good company. A campfire. The guys. Ignis's cooking. The only place, amorphous as it is, he ever felt happy.]

[ she's already digging out a dish for him as she speaks. ]
But there's plenty, so you can have as much as you like.

Are you an angel? Wow. Uh, let me at least help you box things up for everyone and clean up.
[Here he comes to find some containers, or at least bowls and plastic wrap.]
My name's Prompto. And you are?
no subject
[ And just for that, she's going to make sure she gives him what can only be called a heaping helping of rice before she goes to add the rest. Hungry chocobos need their sustenance. ]
I'm Yuuri Wakasa. I came in with the big group of new arrivals – so I've only been here a few days, now.

[He means it, too. It's nice to have something--well, nice happen with this new group, after everything. After eyeballing how much she's made, he starts setting out mismatched containers.]
Are you settling in okay? I haven't been here that long myself, so I know how unsettling all of it can be. But if you need any pointers, I guess I am one of the people who's been here longest!
no subject
[ And isn't that an understatement. She's glad for the excuse that dishing out the chicken and broth gives her an excuse not to look at Prompto as she says it. ]
It's not like I'm not used to being unsettled, it's just that I was starting to like not being unsettled. Back home, I mean. So having to put up with it again... it's a little bit frustrating.

[He sighs and crosses his arms.]
Moving around all the time, never having your own space that's yours... It's really, really tough to live like that for a long time. But at least things seem, like, safe and stable enough here. Mostly.
no subject
[ Haaaahahahahhaha.
But that's a conversation to awkwardly dance around another day, there's food here to save the mood. She pops a spoon into the bowl as well and then hands it over. ]
Here. Take a bite and tell me what you think.

Mmmm... Mmmmmm!
[Look at all this wordless, happy gesturing. Yuuri's made a boy's week today.]
Oh, that's amazing! Oh, man... it tastes so much like--like what my friend used to make. Wow...! [He raises the bowl to her.] My compliments to the chef! Brava!

I'm glad you like it. It's not a tough recipe, but it's still a bit nerve-wracking, trying something new out for the first time, right?

Hey, I burn toast. Believe me, I know the feeling. This is really great, though! Hard to believe it was your first time making it.
