[Lily’s posting a message to the network! Which is odd, because she normally doesn’t like messing with the network much, but. It’s a video post, and one that shows Lily standing in the magic lab on the fourth floor.]

So, something weird is going on in Fissures, we know that. More than just the reality thing, I mean. And we’ve had things like endless fires, or creepy mines, or mansions with moving armor that tries to throw you out. So… I feel like there’s going to be a need for us to be stronger. Or more versatile. Or just… better.

If anyone else is feeling that way, Jail and I in the Magic Lab. [At the mention of her name, a familiar gloved arm reaches out from behind the camera, bending to do a fingergun at the viewers. It’s probably very uncomfortable to bend your arm that way..] I’m not suggesting sparring- Instead, it seems like most people here have magic, or some powers similar. If you can come and explain your powers, Jail can take a Look at them, and I’ll help by trying to expand your powers. Trying to think of new ways you can use things, or unexpected applications.

If you have trouble controlling your powers, too, I can help with that. I’ve got… a lot of practice. Just assume I’m here to help you grow and expand your powers in general.

Can you fix that, do you think? If you put the holy there by 'deconstructing' it, do you think you could use that, um... 'memory' of what it was to fix it?

...In theory it should be possible.

Let's start with that, then. I feel like it will be easier to get a start on healing and repairing if it's things you destroyed or deconstructed with that same power... I might be way off, though.

I've got a decent idea about healing and a few artes down - that's normal Seventh Fonon stuff, not hyperresonance.

And I wouldn't use hyperresonance on any person I didn't want extremely dead, anyway. Too risky.

Can you explain more about hyperresonance? I think I have some ideas, but... It's just using sound to erase things?

It's complete annihilation. It's... It uses the resonance of the Seventh Fonon to break things apart into their fonons.

Normally it only happens by accident, because it needs two Seventh Fonists who are resonating with each other. ...That kind tends to just explode, but I've also heard of it causing really weird effects, like teleporting someone halfway across the planet.

[Her eyes light up. She was thinking about that, and it's good to have some confirmation.]

When you break things apart into their fonons, can you keep those fonons around? Can you hold onto them?

Not really. It's like... I already have my hands full with the hyperresonance itself.

[That's not quite right but it's close enough to right.]

I can manipulate fonons into artes normally the same as anyone else, though.

How do you manipulate fonons?

Can you switch gears from hyperresonance to doing an art instantly, or do you need a moment to shift gears?

It needs a moment to disperse. I'm not not at risk of triggering an accidental one.

I'm wondering if you can't, for example... Do a hyperresonance to destroy something, then cancel the hyperresonance, and use the fonons that generated to use an arte without draining your own reserves at all?

[Jail looks up from her notes, where she's been writing down all of Asch's magitechnobabble verbatim- with her own comments in the margins, naturally.]

I don't use that much of my own reserves in the first place. It's a limit of mental stamina, not physical - most fonic artes use the fonons in the environment.

[He watches Jail for a moment before nodding, adjusting the jar before he goes at it again. There's a distinct resonating state throughout his entire body that the fonons are responding to, and it'll be possible for Jail to see the exact way the fonons pool in his body, largely around the hands, eyes, and throat. Also, for some reason, Jail will probably be able to tell that the exact frequency involved is, in fact, pi.]

[The precise frequency definitely raises an eyebrow, and she makes a mental note to ask him to show her something other than the Seventh Fonon at some point, just to see if any of the other frequencies as numbers she recognized as being significant at all.]

What's the main difficulty, there- is it keeping your mind focused on doing it, or more trying to keep track of everything you're doing at once, or what?

[Well, if she looks at his diagrams in front of Lily, everything else is round numbers, 1-6.]

It's like... balancing, in a sense. I have to keep the resonance just right or it gets explosive.

This place is pretty reinforced, it seems like, so I think it'll be fine, but explosive experiments might need to go outside regardless.

What throws you off-balance, when you're doing this? Are physical distractions a problem, or is it more mental ones?

Some of both? More 'emotional' than 'mental,' though. Panic makes it incredibly likely to spiral out of control.

[She... pointedly does not look at Lily after that one. She's pretty sure they're both thinking it, anyway, no reason to say it out loud.]

When you say "out of control", what's the reaction like? Does it get bigger, too much to hold onto, or stay at the same level but go where you weren't pointing it, or get less and fizzle out?

[Look, he knows how dangerous it is, that's kind of why he filled out the shitlist.]

It's like having my control jerked away, except instead of going elsewhere, it explodes. Like something shaking to hard to keep a hold of.

[There's a theme here if Jail's looking for it - shaking, vibrating, resonating.]

[Yeah, she definitely picked up on that.]

Shaking- so, like a vibration? That'd fit with the whole... y'know, sound thing. Which means whatever output you're working with definitely gets stronger when you're all worked up, not weaker.

[This time she does look over at Lily. Emotion-fueled powers? Yeah, that's definitely her area of expertise.]

Do you have any particular way you feel when you're using it normally? Any emotions or feelings?
