IC INTRO - FEB

The first thing the new arrivals will see, as the sun sets, is a set of distant lights turning on - the roof of the Station, perched on the cliffs above the beach.

The next thing, probably, will be the exploratory drone, a flying chrome thing about the size of a horse, descending near them, wherever they are.

"I can't believe it spat out people this time," says a voice through the speakers - androgynous, somehow sounding young and old enough to be incredibly tired.

Another voice, almost identical but almost unmistakably that of a different speaker from the cheerful tone, says, "Worry about it later! Hey, do you want a ride?"

And with that, the door of the drone's cargo bay opens.

--> WELCOME, NEW ARRIVALS.

Drones drop characters off on the well-lit lower section of the roof, where a pair of tall, gangly humanoids meet them. The two are clearly artificial, formed of silver metal and white silicone, and perfectly identical... Except for their standing posture, which is very different.

The one on the right, a step further back, looks indisputably excited, and peers at the new arrivals curiously. The one on the left has a bag slung over their shoulder, clearly thrown together at the last moment and not completely closed. They take a step forward and say, in a calm tone, "Hello. My name is Strange. Do you have any injured?"

A few minutes after the characters start to arrive, a third android bursts out of the door into the station, exclaiming (in the same voice as the rest), "Here! Wear these!" before shoving a purple scarf at Strange and a red scarf at the curious one. The new android is already wearing an orange scarf.

Once all characters have been brought up, the remaining three androids arrive on the roof, wearing green, dark blue, and white scarves. The one in white hangs back a little from the others, while the one in blue carries themselves with authority.

"Welcome to Keystone Station," says the one in blue, in a voice that must have the volume enhanced to carry across the entire roof. "You may call me Up. My siblings and I have been maintaining the station in the absence of our creators, and researching the phenomenon that brought you here, which we call Fissures. ...I am sorry to say that we have no way to return you to your worlds at this time, so please accept our hospitality."

They bow, low at the waist, and that seems to be a signal to the rest of the group to break up and join the confused, milling group of new arrivals.

--> INDIVIDUAL NPC TOP-LEVELS

Strange - Charm - Top - Bottom - Up - Down

--> THE REST OF THE STATION

Once explanations have been made as much as they can be, the newly arrived characters are set loose to explore the station itself. The labs are currently closed off, as is the door down to the generator level, but characters are welcome to explore anywhere else they please.

The androids, too, depart the roof, each setting off with a distinct task in mind. Charm and Bottom can be found on the lowest accessible level, the two of them working magic on stored seeds long into the night in order to tempt the infant plants into growing. Up and Strange vanish into the labs, (which open to characters the next day, the biology lab having been converted to a medical bay, along with the generator level).

Top and Down, meanwhile, make their home in the central gathering room of the residential floor for the night. Down is distributing network devices from a case at their side, while Top is noting down character housing arrangements and who is taking which of the station's rooms.

There's also a table set up near them, which is covered in a variety of snack foods that characters can grab and munch on before they head off for the night. Most of the packages have sand or dried salt clinging to them, indicating well enough their origins, and the expiry dates are of course all over the place even on the snacks characters might recognize... But it's certainly something to eat, isn't it?

--> THE NEXT MORNING

When characters come into the common room the next day, there's a set of large boxes on either side of the couch-filled lower area. One side is full of clothes of approximately modern Earth origin, loosely sorted by fit. A note tacked to the boxes says Limit yourself to one outfit, please!

The boxes on the other side of the room are empty. A clip-board set on a white folding table in the middle has a piece of paper and a black pen strung to it;

I can't say I'm familiar with the term.

[Guess who is now holding a bag of SPICYHOT NACHO CHIPS. Yes, "SPICYHOT" is literally what it says on the label.]

...May as well see how my spice tolerance has held up, I suppose.
beguiledcard: (... one more left)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ah- ]

Random Number Generator. People can use a website that randomizes pretty much anything you want. You can even have it roll a dice for you.

[ But also that bag of chips looks pretty great... Cue him looking for one of his own. ]

How long has it been?
founderinglight: ([beep])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[And thus a terrifying spice-based friendship was born, because Izunia opens the bag, inhales the smell... And smiles.]

Long than you can likely comprehend.
beguiledcard: (to bring it)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There's not a huge smile, but there is an impressed look on his face as he opens his own. He pauses to take a bite... and then another, all while studying this guy with open curiosity. ]

Yeah? ... You're welcome to test that. I've met someone who's thousands of years old. They looked pretty amazing for their age, too.
founderinglight: ([hold])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
...By my best estimate, I'm somewhere between 2,040 and 2,050.

[At a certain point you kind of lose track.

Also he's going to pop a chip in his mouth now. There's a brief look of surprise, because wow that will kind of knock your pants off after two thousand years, but it quickly turns into a grin.

Yeah he likes this.]
beguiledcard: (i can hear the way they're creakin')

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ His eyebrows lift as he slowly pops a chip into his mouth, then chews it slowly... Yeah, no, he can totally get not having an exact number down.

... Personally, he thinks he'd go insane from existing that long. ]

Soooooo... If you don't mind me asking: demon? Divine entity? ... Reaper?

[ The list of possibilities is incredibly long, so just let him pause there? Also is there a tiny frown at the middle one? Pffftnaaaaaaaaah...

He's. Totally fine with... holy beings... after everything.......

But there is a smile at the way he clearly enjoys the spicy chips. Yep! He can at least be sure they'll continue to agree on that particular subject. ]
founderinglight: ([my place plz])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, if you asked Izunia, he'd certainly agree that he's lost quite a few marbles along the way. Mostly from the trauma.]

'Ancestral spirit' is probably the closest you're going to get in less than five words. Not the most corporeal occupation.

[Which at least explains why he looks like he's found some kind of god in the chip bag.]
beguiledcard: (waiting for the go - for the big show)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Huh... ]

Is that similar to being a guardian of some sort?

[ There's a glance to the side. ]

Was it by choice?
founderinglight: ([ppppp])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. More part of a pool of power that grew over a hundred generations to all be used at the end.

[... He doesn't glance to the side, quite, but briefly looks very interested in the inside of the chip bag.]

It's complicated.
beguiledcard: (fight for you and i)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... There's a dimming of his expression. He doesn't even know what to say to that, honestly. After... already sharing all of this with fellow captives in the last place he got yanked to, it's not as difficult to bring up now: ]

I can agree, based on my own experience, any situation regarding divine or supernatural powers... is very complicated.

[ His own situation had been complicated to the point where it genuinely did start to wear on him. ]
founderinglight: <user name="owlteria" site="tumblr.com"> ([my fave actually])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Supernatural alone I can handle. The divine...

[Oh that's very much a sour expression, wonderful spicyhot chips or no.]

I don't think you could offer me enough to get involved in matters of gods again, unless it was for vengeance.

[HE HAS NO CHILL. LUCIS NO-CHILLUMS.]

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-19 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ His jawline tenses, more than just a hint of bitterness surfacing in his gaze. ]

The divine hasn't exactly been trustworthy where I'm originally from.

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-19 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It took me far too long to learn that lesson, myself.

[Yeah they're both kind of feeling each other out for the 'how much do you hate the gods' talk aren't they.]
beguiledcard: (under lights)

blatant p5 spoilers? blatant p5 spoilers

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-21 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Y e p . . . They sure are.

His expression falters for just a fraction of a second. ]

... I could say the same.

[ There's a moment where he simply flicks at one of the chips in the bag... ]

Not that I had much of a chance to figure it out in time. But... still.

[ He's releasing a puff of air, working to keep that expression as calm as ever. ]

... Guess I can be grateful I got to thank the god for all his trouble by shooting him.

[ Casual shrug??

He's resigning from his position of assisting in dancing around details. ]

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-21 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm envious. Though guns aren't exactly my style; I prefer rapiers.

[There's probably someone who had a royal arm that was just Gun but it wasn't him.

Though they're a little small for the god I'd really like to hurt.

[There's something a little wild and disturbing in the way he says that, with the kind of smile that makes people in anime hesitate because the menacing aura is palpable.

He sets the bag of chips aside in order to pull a sword from the Armiger. It at first appears as an outline of blue light, only becoming solid when Izunia's hand falls on it. He moves it easily to sit flat across his knees when he sits on the nearest couch.

... Did I mention that the sword is five feet long and looks like it probably weighs as much as Izunia himself? Because it is and it does and he's handling it one-handed like that ain't no thing.]

This ought to be large enough for the bastard to feel. Fitting, too. Maybe I'll stick it in his eye.
beguiledcard: (face-to-face)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-22 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ He can't decide whether to be worried or whether to admire his, uh... drive.

... But the level of resentment and hatred he felt towards Yaldabaoth was pretty high up there. Eh, let's go with both for now. Especially when he sees that sword get summoned into the real world.

Wait.

He can-...? ]

It is more fun when they can see it coming. [ NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR PUNS AKIRA WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MURDERING GODS HERE ] ... A lot of the damage came from my Persona.

[ He's studying Izunia with a thoughtful expression.

... ]

I'm more of a dagger fan, myself.

[ ..... ]

Soooo you can store things in another dimension, too, then?
founderinglight: ([hold])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-22 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't get me wrong, daggers definitely have their uses and I've owned quite a few. But this also has symbolic value.

[He raps the knuckles of his free hand on the blade near the crossguard, making a faint metallic noise.]

No other blade would be quite the same.

[And he's just kind of going to leave it there in his lap for a little while while he rearranges his chips.]

I'm not sure that it's another dimension, exactly. But the Armiger is incredibly useful for such things. It's a family talent.
beguiledcard: (mask of steel)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-22 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It felt fitting for the job of a thief. [ casual shrug ] But I can respect symbolism.

[ Heh... ]

My way of killing Yaldabaoth was symbolic, now that I think about it...

[ Twisting a strand of bangs, he gives another thoughtful look at the latter words Izunia had said... ]

It definitely wasn't a family talent for me.

[ He's going back to eating his chips long enough to eat one. ]

Gotta say, though... Armiger is a really cool name for it. Mine is just called Hammerspace.
founderinglight: ([late with spacebucks])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-22 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Royalty tends to have a bit more formality about such things.

[Nom. Chips are wonderful and delicious.]

It is designed primarily to hold weapons. It just also has plenty of space for anything else I can lift.
beguiledcard: (waiting for the go - for the big show)

[personal profile] beguiledcard 2018-02-24 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ Yes... And considerably better to focus on than a lot of the things going through Akira's head right now. ]

Mine was only accessible in the Metaverse, where I'm originally from...

[ A thoughtful hum. ]

I'm guessing the way this place works is thanks to us being able to use our powers out in the open here.

[ ... oh. ]

"Us" being the other people from my world... and someone who'd visited it before we came here.
founderinglight: ([sketchyplaceholder])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2018-02-25 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't know. There were never restrictions like that on any of my abilities. ...Aside from not being able to use them while I didn't have a body, but I suppose that's perfectly reasonable.

[Can't exactly grab things as a ring-ghost armor-soul ancient king.]

There's one other person from Eos here, but otherwise I think we're in the minority, collectively. The rest don't seem to have any existing connections.
