DUNGEON LOG: AMESTA FOREST
Hello everyone!
Up and the others think that we have enough stabilizers ready for the next expedition! We're going to the forest to the south this time, but it shouldn't be too far for anyone to walk. If you're REALLY going to complain, you can talk to Top on the roof and catch a ride on one of the drones like before.
The scenery's really nice, but there's definitely some kind of magical effect going on in there - as far as we can tell, the day doesn't progress inside the forest. It's stuck a little while after sunset - probably when the Fissure first appeared? (°ヘ°)
Be careful out there! Don't be afraid to call for help if you need it and we'll send a drone your way! o(^▽^)o And Strange says no stupid stunts this time, got it? (;¬д¬)
You'll probably see a big tree on your way there, before you're under the cover of the forest! That's the Infinity Tree, it's a really big willow. Charm can probably tell you more about the mythology if you're interested. He's gonna meet you guys there at the end of the expedition, so try to work your way in that direction as you go!
(。・ω・。)ノ See you when you get back!
After Down's message, characters will find things set up much the way they were last time on the roof. Top is making last-minute adjustments to the drones, and there's tables with food and medical supplies set out - the latter a little sparse compared to last time, so hopefully you kept your first aid kits from before. The table of stabilizers, on the other hand, is much more full.
On your way, you might also see some of what the construction drones have been putting together so noisily these last few days - there's the metal shell of a building, similar to but smaller than the Station, to the immediate west, just off your path to the forest in the distance. Nothing much indicates its function as of yet, though there are significantly more windows.
To the southwest stretches the border of Amesta Forest - about a mile distant, though still easily within sight. As promised, the Infinity Tree sticks up from the far edge, easily visible for those who need a landmark either now or later in the dungeon. If you get lost, you can probably find your way up a tree somewhere to get a perspective on it, and which direction to head in.
The silver mist doesn't begin until some distance into the forest, the time of day gradually changing to the eternal twilight mentioned as you approach the boundary of the Fissure itself. There's no distinct border, just a slow shading towards late afternoon and then sunset while the mist increases around you.
And as the mist wraps around you, and exhaustion you might have felt from the walk out here starts to evaporate... You've well and truly arrived, now. Better keep your eyes open.

[Having left Catria at the entrance, Wren is just far enough into the forest to be fully engulfed in the distorted mists when she encounters a blue-haired young woman wearing a grim expression. She actually smiles at the sight, eagerly approaching her, but that happiness is short-lived, for she is quickly met with a sword being pointed straight at her.]
Lucina, what are you—?
[The young Lord scowls, taking a step forward.]
I know what Father said. I know that he may never forgive me... But the entire world hangs in the balance! For everyone's sake, I can't afford to take such risks. I know what what must be done.
[Wren recoils, her eyes widening.]
What?! Why now? Lucina, please, we're not even—
[She's unable to finish her appeal, as Lucina swiftly lunges at her, Falchion in hand. This is utterly unexpected, and so Wren lets out a startled yell, stumbling back on reflex. However, the movement is too clumsy to dodge anything, and the attack strikes true—
only for her terror to turn to confusion as suddenly as upon waking from a nightmare when the blade passes right through her, leaving nothing but a damp chill on her body.]
15th – Fall's Heart
[The first time Wren sees a flash of blond hair among the autumnal trees, she thinks nothing of it. There are a good number of people from the station that could belong to, after all. As the figure substantiates itself, however, she recognizes that it clearly isn't any of them, and once she gets a proper look at the person... well, for a second, she feels like her heart's stopped. In that very moment, all logic vacates the premises of her mind. Never mind that this is most likely just another living dream, there's a chance that it's not, it's entirely possible that she was brought here, that she was spared the consequences of their greatest error—]
Emmeryn?
[She, of course, gets no response as the nigh-angelic woman turns her back and begins walking calmly away.]
Emmeryn! Please, don't... Wait!
[Her pleas once again fall on deaf ears, so without really thinking she pursues. Before long, she's sprinting as quickly as her legs will allow. Emmeryn, for her part, moves with every bit of the serenity and grace she displayed right until the very end, yet no matter how fast Wren runs, the distance between them does not close. She continues to call out desperately, but to no avail; eventually, her voice begins to fail her, and she is unable to force herself onward any longer. Breathing raggedly, her chest burning, she falls to her knees. With the apparition fading into the distance, she barely manages to choke out two quiet words.]
I'm sorry...
16th – Roots of the Infinity Tree (cw: murder, electrocution)
[You find yourself in a sprawling structure, built from sandy bricks and unquestionably ancient. A short series of winding halls lead to a vast room, with pillars reaching beyond sight into a dark space that presumably has a ceiling somewhere. But the architecture is hardly the most attention-catching thing here...
The ground is littered with corpses. A young woman with blond hair in pigtails, stabbed repeatedly through the chest. A green-haired lady with pointed ears, covered in burns. Two youths, a boy and a girl, that could well be identical twins were it not for their sexes and their vastly different hair colors of blue and green, both still convulsing with electricity.
At the center of it all stands Wren. Lying at her feet is the body of an interestingly dressed blue-haired man, along with one that you may well recognize as that of her twin brother. Gripping her Thoron tome tightly in one hand, while the other, empty one is spread open, she stares down at it — or is it at them? — with dead eyes as a rasping, malevolent laugh echoes throughout the great hall.]

Sister...

She wants to brush him off, tell him she's fine, will be fine, but such a brazen lie simply won't pass her lips. All that comes is a long shuddering breath.]

Instead, he just silently wraps his arms around Wren and pulls her into the tightest hug he can manage.
Nothing needs to be said.]

...Gods, what is she doing? He bears this grief just as she does, yet she's the only one losing herself to it, while he stands strong enough for the both of them.]

But the effects of this Fissure have been taxing. He doesn't feel like trying to keep it together.]

...I'm sorry, Brother. I... I should be stronger than this.

[The response is automatic.]
... She still haunts me, too...

[She lets silence hang in the air for a little while before sighing again and... pouting.]
I miss the beach. I even miss those stupid seagulls.
[Subject change is a go?]

[He'll just lightly pat her head.]

I still need food and water, after all... But a bit of rest after all this sounds nice.

She just stares for a moment, trying to work out what to do. Then, a little hesitantly, she pipes up; ]
... are you injured?

I...
[She looks down, pressing a hand to where Falchion should have rent her body, and finds no sign of damage.]
No. Not at all.
[And how utterly perplexed she is by the fact is clearly audible in her words.]

[ For another moment, Violet is quiet. Wren isn't hurt, but she's clearly unsettled which is probably reasonable given the circumstances. But if she's not physically injured, then Violet's a little stumped for how to help.
Not that she isn't going to try her best anyway, of course. ]
If you're uninjured, then it would appear to be one of the illusions cast by the forest. If that's the case, you've nothing to fear from them.
[ She's... trying! ]

...Okay. Thank you.
