DUNGEON - BELLMARE ENCLAVE (BELLMARE MOUNTAINS, PT 2)

The shadows are starting to grow very long as you crest his particular ridge - it's not night yet, but it will be soon. In the shadows of the afternoon, with a tall mountain already blocking the sun, lies a snow-covered valley that is different from the ones you've come across thus far in your investigation.

This valley is home to a town, and unlike all the settlements you've seen so far - Incendia, the Telovia mining town, and the manor - it's very much active. There are actual people in the streets, visible from above, going through their days on snow-free streets, bundled up against the cold.

Those of you who asked were told of the handful of people who didn't go into the slumber of stasis as the Fissure conditions of the world grew worse and worse, instead isolating themselves and trying to continue living their lives as they could. Now, it seems, you've found exactly such a group.

Welcome to the Bellmare Enclave, and enjoy your stay.

[[OOC: Welcome to part 2 of the dungeon! For the most part, interaction with the town's NPCs can be handwaved as described on the main information post. Worth noting are the following major things: The Bellmare Enclave isn't expecting visitors, though the people are generally friendly to the new arrivals. They don't know about the time dilation effect of their Fissure - to them, it's only been about eighteen years since the Slumber Plan was put in place and they withdrew from the world. And finally, by a similar token, they have no idea how far the Fissures outside of their own have grown - while it's not uncommon for them to find odd objects from time to time, they'll assume that the characters are just arrivals from other places within their own world, rather than outsiders, until told otherwise.]]

...That Ignis will keep his sight. Noctis took the price back - demanded it, really.

[His sight and his life. It was nothing to see unless you were the person whose memories were tied into the Ring rather than the scene.]

How very much like him.
founderinglight: ([hold])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2019-01-03 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd never allow one of his own to suffer if he could help it. Or anyone else, but his people especially.
burninglight: (and my heart starts vanishing)

Mm...you’re right. He really is something, I could see him telling the lot of you off if he felt it necessary.

Chosen King beats all others in terms of authority. That's just how it is.
burninglight: (fighting and striving for the light)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-03 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd have told you off anyway.
founderinglight: ([my place plz])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2019-01-03 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably. We likely got an earful. Seems to be a running theme lately.
burninglight: (uncertainty enveloping my mind)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-03 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't say most of you don't deserve it. Had it coming bout as much as I did that considerable asskicking.

...Gods, did I think I could tell him off when I was barely standing up?
founderinglight: ([beep])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2019-01-03 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You just can't resist a dramatic moment, brother dear. Your entire being is calibrated to find them.
burninglight: (can i bear to seek the truth)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-03 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
A fair enough point, but I feel I lost the effect by staggering around half-tangible.

You were hardly used to losing.

Holding up okay? It's been a hell of a day already and it's not over.
burninglight: (suddenly i see that i can't break free)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fine, you don't need to treat me like a child.

[personal profile] founderinglight 2019-01-04 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I already managed to fuck myself up by running into a fragment where our positions were reversed, don't give me that.
burninglight: (to tell me who I am; who I was)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-04 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I said I'm fine, I don't want to talk about it.
founderinglight: ([BOOF])

[personal profile] founderinglight 2019-01-04 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, alright, calm down.

[Even though he's generally pretty sure that the more you insist that you're fine, the less fine you are.]
burninglight: (to tell me who I am; who I was)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-04 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I am perfectly calm.

[Izunia just gives him the 'sure you are I'm not going to argue with you' look.

But even as he does, there's the flicker of another memory, and -

I am perfectly calm repeats like a bell, like something that triggers a natural memory even though it isn't. And the scene is basically the same, except that it's utterly different. Because the Ardyn in that vision is back in his Chancellor of Niflheim gear, and the Izunia is in a sharp white suit jacket with black lining, and -

Someone who didn't know might not recognize the way that both twins are dressed, to ward the bright sunlight reflecting off the Niflheim snow from their bodies as much as possible, but anyone might recognize that they both have yellow eyes.

You're never perfectly calm, Izunia replies, almost a snap but for the way he smiles. You and perfectly calm haven't been on speaking terms for centuries.

For a long moment, Ardyn doesn't answer. He just crouches down, to better watch - well, that's Prompto in the distance, that's surely not important to anything.

Izunia sits next to him, legs dangling over the edge of the cliff, completely disregarding how the snow will surely soak into his clothes. The others aren't getting off that train any time soon, he says, leaning into Ardyn's knee. Go have fun - I know you've been waiting for this.

Ardyn chuckles in turn, the tone dark. And you haven't?

As long as I get to see Immortalis blow up, I'll be content, Izunia replies.

Liar, Ardyn says, but he runs a hand over his brother's shoulder before straightening and tossing a sword to warp after the unfortunate blond below. He pauses there, to give a cheery wave, and Izunia gives him one back from the clifftop. But I'll put on a good show, nonetheless!

And the fading out isn't so gradual this time - it's sudden, and the real Izunia has his hands pressed over his face, not exactly blocking it out but obviously stressed either way.]

Was that - did you see - ?

burninglight: (and the darkness overcome)

[personal profile] burninglight 2019-01-05 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Judging by how Ardyn now had his head in his hands, he had definitely seen it.]

Fuck.

[What a pair they are.]

...Yeah, that about covers it.

I hate this. I hate everything about this and I want to go home.

I'll take it over the dreams, not that that's saying much.
