DUNGEON - BELLMARE ENCLAVE (BELLMARE MOUNTAINS, PT 2)
The shadows are starting to grow very long as you crest his particular ridge - it's not night yet, but it will be soon. In the shadows of the afternoon, with a tall mountain already blocking the sun, lies a snow-covered valley that is different from the ones you've come across thus far in your investigation.
This valley is home to a town, and unlike all the settlements you've seen so far - Incendia, the Telovia mining town, and the manor - it's very much active. There are actual people in the streets, visible from above, going through their days on snow-free streets, bundled up against the cold.
Those of you who asked were told of the handful of people who didn't go into the slumber of stasis as the Fissure conditions of the world grew worse and worse, instead isolating themselves and trying to continue living their lives as they could. Now, it seems, you've found exactly such a group.
Welcome to the Bellmare Enclave, and enjoy your stay.
[[OOC: Welcome to part 2 of the dungeon! For the most part, interaction with the town's NPCs can be handwaved as described on the main information post. Worth noting are the following major things: The Bellmare Enclave isn't expecting visitors, though the people are generally friendly to the new arrivals. They don't know about the time dilation effect of their Fissure - to them, it's only been about eighteen years since the Slumber Plan was put in place and they withdrew from the world. And finally, by a similar token, they have no idea how far the Fissures outside of their own have grown - while it's not uncommon for them to find odd objects from time to time, they'll assume that the characters are just arrivals from other places within their own world, rather than outsiders, until told otherwise.]]

[ Everything to this point had been incredibly eventful to say the least, though maybe Atsushi’s not as fond of the cold as he would have liked. Even for as bundled up as he was, but there were so many other people here that had come to the base of this Mountain so it wasn’t like he’d be alone. Sure, if he needed to use his ability he would, but hopefully not in a pinch so he’d be able to salvage his coat, mittens and shirt underneath.
As they start the climb down that rather steep path down into the cavern, there’s almost a tense air about things which made sense as they were getting deeper in and who knew what else to expect by this point.
It’s only as he sees the person in front of him lose their footing for just a second that his hand darts out to grab their arm and pull them back, averting what could have been a rather unfortunate disaster. ]
Ah… A-Are you alright?
[ Memories | Not Quite Right ] -- 1 **CW for Blood, Descriptive Violence & Death**
[ The illuminated crystals that lit up the cavern was absolutely incredible. Breathtaking, even. He would have been more fascinated with it , had something else not overtaken his vision in that next instance.
Initially the scenery was blurred, but as it came into focus? It became apparent it was set near Yokohama Bay and it looked like some kind of awful massacre, with blood splattered everywhere and mutilated bodies spread out along the cold concrete. Trying not to feel sick at the sight, it was then that he noticed someone lying among the carnage and they appeared to be alive. ]
You monster. You bastards are murderers
[ Atsushi’d never seen this before. Why was someone calling him a monster?
All of a sudden his world was moving quickly and ‘he’ raced forwards, picking up this bespectacled person and hoisting them off their feet. He noticed then that his hand was covered thickly in blood; like he’d dipped his hand in it and the person looked at him with contempt through their glasses at him, but Atsushi couldn’t catch his own reflection in them yet.
That’s when he realised ‘he’ was speaking. ]
Says the ones who invaded our territory and killed some of our men first. You’re the leader right? I should take care of you first!! He’ll be so happy with me if I do!
[ He shouldn’t sound like that. Something unhinged is in his voice and he doesn’t like it. It’s him… but not. The person glares at him and makes to shoot him with a gun but he then lets off a sigh before abruptly shooting out what appeared to be a rather large, clawed hand but the fur was deep black with white stripes, severing the arm in a blur and the scream resonating through Atsushi’s skull. ]
Tell me where the rest of your men are.
Never.
Ah. So it’s death you choose, then. Fine.
[ That same clawed hand shot out and pierced through the man’s chest in a spray of blood, horror on the man’s face and it was in that horrifying instant that Atsushi saw himself reflected in those spectacles: jet black hair and a murderous smile on his face, red and a distorted purple hue shining in his eyes. ]
N-No… No… this isn’t… i’m not…
[ What WAS this?! There were no words for what was going on here. ]
[ Memories | Not Quite Right ] -- 2
[ The scenery shifted then and he was facing off against a bunch of people it seemed like. This time it was different. He could see himself. This other him, he stood there with a face that retained innocence. The black coat that covered him all the way to his neck fluttered in a light wind. ]
Then……it was, true? [ The one man - presumably the leader - looked shocked. ] The rumours that the White Tiger Ability user……the White Reaper of Port Mafia, is still a young boy.
[ This version of Atsushi straightened his neck and nodded. ] It’s the end. You’ve planned to assassinate Port Mafia’s boss. As expected of professional mercenaries, you had the skill to keep us unaware until the day of execution. [ There was no anger in those eyes of his. There wasn’t even the dark joy of slaughter. Only an oppressive silence and darkness wrapped around him, blessing him, cursing him. ]
But if you are professional assassins, then our boss is—so to speak, a professional at being assassinated. Almost on a daily basis, skilled assassins infiltrate Port Mafia’s headquarters, aiming for his head. Everyday. But none of them have ever succeeded. They couldn’t even get past the first floor—the way you all have experienced it.
[ The world shifted briefly; distorting a bit before coming back into view. A young girl comes into view, worry on her face as she kneels before Atsushi. ]
Are you okay?
I’m, fine……Kyouka-chan [ Spoken while the other Atsushi moaned in pain, crouched on the floor. ] I, was ‘transformed’ for, a long time, today……took a bit of a toll.
[ Kyouka quickly unbuttoned ‘Atsushi’s’ black coat, revealing the neck hidden by the long collar around his neck. It was a heavy black metal collar. Decorations like sharp claws lined the outside, as well as the inside. The claws, like stakes, gouged into the flesh of his neck, and there were already a few trails of blood. ]
It should be removed quickly. [ Kyouka stretched her fingers to remove the collar but the other him stopped her. ]
It’s okay [ The other Atsushi said in pain. ] If I don’t have the restraints, and pain, of this collar……I can’t control the tiger’s power. If the tiger runs wild, you’ll be harmed too.
[ There’s another shift. Just a final one. He spots the Black Lizards and they’re Port Mafia too, as if they were all coworkers but he didn’t get it. What was going on? Why was he seeing this? He spots this other him, just as he speaks up. ]
I’ll go straight to where the boss is. There should be the next mission waiting. That person saved me. He saved me from hell, and invited me to this organisation. I will never betray that person’s orders. [ Then, the other ‘him’ began walking. Carrying darkness, with an innocent expression. ]
Tell the boss—tell Dazai-san I’ll be there soon.
[ Atsushi looks a bit pale now, trying to catch his breath but he just seems a bit winded. How… how… this wasn’t real… it couldn’t be. ]
going down!
[Akira stiffens when she's pulled back, but relaxes when she realizes it was Atsushi that did so.]
Yeah... thanks to you. Sorry about that.

I-It's alright! I just didn't want you getting hurt if you fell.
[ There'd been a moment before when she had stiffened up before. How could he miss that? ]
Should have warned you before I grabbed you though. Sorry.

[ He seemed like he wanted to say more but refrained from doing so. Instead focusing on what was around them as it seemed like a better idea. ]
I've never seen any place like this before. I mean... it's better than the weird mansion I first arrived in, b-but still.

[She chuckles nonetheless.]
It's a pretty place, though, for a cave at least.

[ Plus there wasn't ghosts and people transformed into all manner of supernatural beings. ]
That probably is because of all the crystals on the walls, i'd guess. Kind of... wish I could take a picture of it for later in case I don't get to come back here.

[After the mines... but we Don't Talk About The Mines.]
Hmm... [She pulls her phone out of her inventory.] I can take a few and send them to you when we're back at the Station?
memories 1
Do you know what that was?
no subject
I... N-No. That wasn't my memory... it was like it was me... but it wasn't.
[ He wasn't a killer, after all. ]
no subject
If it wasn't you, then who was it?
[In spite of how varied Gogol's visions had been - each one had been a man known as "Nikolai Gogol", at least.]
no subject
I... I just... don't want to believe that's me. I'm not like that. I don't kill people. I'm not a murderer.
[ This other 'him' seemed to delight in killing that man, too. He wasn't sure why the hair color and eyes were different but it wasn't something he was entertaining too much at the moment. ]
