DUNGEON - BELLMARE ENCLAVE (BELLMARE MOUNTAINS, PT 2)
The shadows are starting to grow very long as you crest his particular ridge - it's not night yet, but it will be soon. In the shadows of the afternoon, with a tall mountain already blocking the sun, lies a snow-covered valley that is different from the ones you've come across thus far in your investigation.
This valley is home to a town, and unlike all the settlements you've seen so far - Incendia, the Telovia mining town, and the manor - it's very much active. There are actual people in the streets, visible from above, going through their days on snow-free streets, bundled up against the cold.
Those of you who asked were told of the handful of people who didn't go into the slumber of stasis as the Fissure conditions of the world grew worse and worse, instead isolating themselves and trying to continue living their lives as they could. Now, it seems, you've found exactly such a group.
Welcome to the Bellmare Enclave, and enjoy your stay.
[[OOC: Welcome to part 2 of the dungeon! For the most part, interaction with the town's NPCs can be handwaved as described on the main information post. Worth noting are the following major things: The Bellmare Enclave isn't expecting visitors, though the people are generally friendly to the new arrivals. They don't know about the time dilation effect of their Fissure - to them, it's only been about eighteen years since the Slumber Plan was put in place and they withdrew from the world. And finally, by a similar token, they have no idea how far the Fissures outside of their own have grown - while it's not uncommon for them to find odd objects from time to time, they'll assume that the characters are just arrivals from other places within their own world, rather than outsiders, until told otherwise.]]

I think I can get that, too? Moreso now that I'm trying to be more-or-less good. It kind of forces working with smaller crowds, I think...

[Samata shoved her hands in her pockets.]
So what now? I haven't been able to find a proper inn in this town, which kinda makes sense if they've been trapped in this fissure for the last twenty years.
[Apparently she didn't really want to talk about whatever had caused that reaction.]

No wait hold on.
[She dug through her pockets until she could hunt down a pair of fancy spectacles and put them on.]
Okay, now I'd be interested in seeing that.

[Pidonus raises a hand - the ring on her glove obviously reacts to magic reading. And moreso as a portal opens on the outside wall of one building in an alley.]
I can control who's allowed in and out - so for the moment, limiting it to those who came in with us. We can talk specifics inside where it'll sound less crazy?

[She focused on trying to memorized the interplay of forces and energies as the portal shimmered.]
Does it have to be anchored to a wall or could you make it free floating in the air? What happens if the spell gets disrupted while something is half way through? Do you know how it works or is it just instinctive? Can you change the shape of the portal?

[And then the questions start.]
In theory, it can be free-floating, but that'd also make it accessible from both ends which while somehow technically safe is really weird-looking in a way that's kinda nauseating. Not sure what'd happen on spell disruption, but most likely the forces involved would shove them to one or the other side. I'm not 100% on how it works, other than some of the basic principles of my world's planar structure being key to it. And the portal's shape is basically consistent every time.

[It feels rude to just stick her head through.]

I can reconfigure the space when it's empty of people; theoretically, if I -
[She pauses and skips the 'level up' part.]
- Get stronger, I can configure it larger, but right now, it's limited to 690 square feet. I can control who's allowed in freely as I mentioned, including 'locking' it so it's invisible from the outside, but can only move it while I'm outside. A lot of the restrictions are what my world would call 'narrativist', meaning I can't 100% explain them honestly...

Homey.
So where ARE we right now?
no subject
A-anyways! This is part of this world's Ethereal Plane, as far as I know. The exact details I'm less handy for, but that's the fundamental principle at least.

[Several things click into place.]
This is the medium that I travel through with teleportation spells! And you've actually figure out a way to just EXIST here. Very clever.

I'm honestly not sure how that relates to our theme? But it's handy so.
