EXPLORATION: CELICA POWER COMPANY

Set in an older-looking building that's been clearly renovated a time or two, the Celica Power Company corporate headquarters is still easily tall enough to tower over the group, in spite of being only about half the height of Incendia's tallest buildings. The bottom three floors are mostly rented out office spaces - including a large dentist's office - before rising through a series of research labs before getting into the company headquarters proper.

Which will you investigate first?

[Mai looks around, sword strapped to her back, and eats a granola bar before she speaks.]

Do you think we should start here? Or try and get to the top first.

In Yggdrasil we explored each floor in order, but I suppose it might have been different had the stairways all been together.

Well I think we should at least poke our heads into the other floors in case there's something we need - a place like this probably have locks.

Locks are no problem.

[Mai's tiny robot bear gives a recorded roar by her feet. For some reason, he's wearing a knitted black... kigurumi? Robot-cozy? Bear suit? It fits him perfectly, anyway, so he looks slightly more bear-ish now.]

The company headquarters up top... Probably important. But we can at least start with the labs. Since we're all technically researchers.

[Bastila walks up to the group standing just outside the building.]

I am certainly curious to see what research equipment there is available. Shall we enter?

[He's still trying to piece together what's exactly going on with this place, and this seems like a good place as any]

Okay, if everyone is ready, then let us go carefully.

[Bastila activates her lightsaber. She walks forward and tries the door.]

[The door is unlocked!

And the lights are even still on. Given the context, either someone left in a hurry, or didn't manage to leave at all.

There's a faint smell of chemicals as the group enters the labs, which are sectioned off by glass dividers that have magical runes inscribed around the edges. It looks like there's four main sections, plus sort of hallways in between.]

[Arianna's just gonna recklessly charge forward into the nearest available section.]

[Bastila calls to her as she follows.]

Dame Arianna. Perhaps we should be a little more cautious?

I am being careful!

[Arianna is not being careful.]

If you're sure. Let's check this.

[Bear-san moves over to guard Arianna. Or just because he felt like it, given that he then snuffles at the ground and vacuums up an ant.]

[This area is mostly small glass panels spread out across a work table. The majority of them are about the size of a spread hand, and they all seem to have different coatings on them that change the clear glass to different, iridescent colors.

Discounting the half a dozen panels that haven't been coated with anything, there are fourteen in all. There's also a cell phone of the clear crystal magical variety balanced on the edge of the table, three closed jars that appear to be the same sort of coatings, a brush for each jar, and what seems to be a magically powered engraving tool.]

[Her lock-picking skills not having been needed thus far, Jail ambles along casually at the rear of the group- until they reach the labs, and she sees an opportunity to get some use out of her other main skillset.]

[What, if anything, does she pick up on if she Looks at this particular lab area?]

[Well, some people are just cheats.

All of the coatings absorb light in various wavelengths and convert it to magical energy. If Jail's been paying attention to the power grid of Incendia as a whole, it's not hard to figure out that these are experimental solar panels.

The phone's still a phone and the engraving tool is still an engraving tool, by the way.]

Like the panels in the city... Are they different? Do you know.

[She's gonna pick up the phone and see if she can get into it. How many gacha games are on this thing?]

[Three, but the data about the panels is probably a little more relevant. Also, the phone has low battery. :[ ]

[Let's be honest: if Jail isn't cheating wildly, it's probably time to worry. Anyway, it's no fair hogging all the exposition, she'll share with the rest of the party like a good bro.]

Huh. Lot more heavy on the "magi" than the "tech", but this looks like a bunch of magitech solar panels. What's the phone say about 'em, got any good shit?

I'm not finding anything. And the battery is low.

[It's mostly data on which of the coatings are the most effective. Possibly useful to Jail, but not really what you're looking for.]

[Well, she's not going to turn down any useful knowledge. She'll just take photos of those logs on her own phone really quick.]

[Okay, anything else in this section that might be of interest before they move on?]

[Also, what if anything would Jail notice about those magic runes around the edges of the glass dividers that got mentioned earlier?]

[Well, they're pretty similar to the ones in the Keystone labs, especially the magic lab. If she's taken the time to actually ask about those, it's pretty obvious that these are protective of some sort. Probably magic blast shield glass or something.
