Pets, pets, pets [Open]

Who: Sync and you and maybe some floof
What: Catch-all for Sync, after he gets a giant floof following him home
When: After the IC intro, before Palace stuff with the Personas starts
Where: Common room, the beach

A - Common Room

[If you head into the Common Room around the same time everyone is getting back from the Fissure, you may or may not be startled by the sight of one of these critters (slightly smaller than normal but still pretty large) lying on a couch. It looks up at you and yawns widely, before continuing to watch you. It seems very pleased with itself.

Mostly because it has Sync pinned to the couch it's lying on, since it's also lying on top of him and is large enough to do so to the guy made of short. He's...mostly okay with this, since he's reading a fonbook he found anyway. He could get up if he really wanted to, but eh]

B - The beach

[Down on the beach, Sync can be found training, taking advantage of the lessened heat while it lasts. The coeurl is also here, but it's napping in the sun rather than doing anything.

Occasionally Sync isn't training, but is instead sitting on the sand and sort of watching, sort of playing with the leaf-storm he brought out of the mines. It's happily picking up bits of sand and swirling them around, leaving tracks in the sand. Sync is manipulating some wind fonons to also make tracks in the sand, and the elemental seems to find it a kind of game]

You're a strange creature. Too bad you can't talk.

[He kinda wants to know why it enjoys this so much]

[Mai has Bear-san on a leash, but he totters up as far as he can go and makes a curious noise. What the heck is that, that is not a bear.]

You have a pet?

[The coeurl makes a curious noise right back, leaning down to examine the odd little creature.

Sync looks up and then at the cat pinning him down and shrugs a little] I guess. I didn't really plan for it. I think it just followed me back from the Fissure and now it won't leave me alone.

[Bear-san growls cautiously, but the coeurl doesn't look that mean. He'll vacuum an ant off the floor instead of trying to scare something bigger than he is.]

It's cute. I haven't seen one before.

[The coeurl rumbles back, but doesn't seem worried about Bear-san. Instead it just watches because it likes to watch. Though it does let its whiskers wave up and down at being called cute, maybe approving?]

It reminds me of ligers, which are similar, but it's not as bulky as this guy. I honestly don't really know what it is.

[Mai has heard of coeurls, but she's never seen one, so no help there.]

Almost like tiger-san. I took care of some once. And fed them. It was nice.

What was taking care of a...tiger? Like. It might help me work out how to handle this thing. [Nudging the coeurl] I figure it probably eats meat, but I haven't dealt with taking care of animals before now.

Yours is more affectionate. Though maybe raised by humans? Either way... Dangerous, but it seems manageable. They need a lot of space. So going out into the Fissures a lot. Tiger-san eat deer-san, and we have that. ...They also scratch things. A lot. Like trees.

Affectionate...I don't know about that. It just decided to sit on me.

[And it still seems pretty happy about that]

Hm...so going outside, and letting it hunt along with feeding it. That makes sense, it'll stay healthier that way. Why would they scratch trees though, I wonder?

[He finally manages to sit up, the coeurl shifting to lie across his lap and part of the couch, looking up at him curiously]

Territory. And for their claws. Like cat-san scratching a post.

Can't say I have much experience with cats either, but I see. Like sharpening a blade with a whetstone.

[He pats the top of the coeurl's head, a little awkwardly] Dunno why you picked me of all people to follow here. I'm probably going to mess this up.

Sometimes things happen. Maybe it was raised by humans. And it saw you and decided you were friendly.

[He can't help an amused sound, which makes the coeurl head-tilt]

It's not a great judge of character then. I'm not exactly the most friendly person in the world. [Usually the opposite] But I guess it's not like I'm going to hurt it either.

...What are you going to call it.

Call it? [A long pause] I don't know. I guess it does kind of need a name, but...I have no idea what to name anything.

I'm not good with names. [Loath as she is to admit it, well, Bear-san.] Something powerful? Impressive.

Good advice. [It is a large cat, even if it's smaller than some] I'd ask others, but I don't think that's a good idea. It did seem to like the lightning sparks I made earlier, so maybe it's some kind of wind elemental creature...

[Ponder]

So something about wind?

[Asch comes in and just. Has to stop to boggle. Because what the hell.]

I always thought you hated animals.

[Sync doesn't even look up when he replies, though the coeurl does] There's a difference between hating animals, and hating Arietta's beasts.

[Mostly because Arietta's beasts are associated with Arietta, and thus Sync hates them on default]

It's also not like I told it to do this.

Fair enough, I guess.

[It's not like he ever really saw Sync around any other kind of animal.

Still, someone paid attention to Arietta's lectures on not startling strange, large predators - Asch makes his movements nonthreatening and very obvious until he can sit in another of the common room's seats.]

[It's hard to find other small animals around when there was also aforementioned large beasts hanging around]

Before you ask, no, I have no idea what it is or why it's following me around.

[The coeurl watches Asch move, whiskers waving up and down slowly and sniffing the air. It lets out a small rumble, but since Sync is clearly not bothered, it is not being bothered either]

[He is very much not a bother! And luckily didn't bring Pyram along with him, the snake solidly snoozing back in his room.]

Maybe it likes your sparks.

[Sync is probably more likely to buy it being a related elemental affinity.]

[That makes him pause a little and glance at the coeurl]

...I guess that's possible. I don't think I've made too much aside from when it first showed up, but that could be it.

[Listen. Even he's allowed to lose control and freak out a tiny bit when a giant fluff monster decides to sit on you]

Seems to be why the wind elemental is hanging around me, so what's one more, I suppose.

[Nathaniel comes walking down to the beach after having seen the leaf-storm. By his side is his Carnivine, who looks very curious about the fellow plant creature.]

Where did you find that creature?

[Sync glances up at the stranger, the leaf-storm floating over to apparently check out Carnivine. It's hard to tell what it's doing, since it has no eyes, but it's acting friendly enough?]

In the mines, last Fissure. There was a cave deep down with a bunch of them in there.

[Macy manifests a few leaves of her own, sending them gently drifting in the direction of the leaf-storm.]

Ah...I must have missed that, myself. But I'm glad to see Macy has found a similar companion.

[The leaf-storm seems excited about this, swirling its winds more and making the leaves dance around]

Can't say I've ever seen anything like either it or your friend there. But the elemental seems happy enough, so I figure I'm doing something right, since it wants to hang around me.

She's a Carnivine-that's a kind of Pokemon. [He's not sure if he'll have to explain further, so he leaves it there for now.] Well, do you have any ability that might have drawn it to you?

Pokemon...I think I've heard that somewhere. [~~Mostly because the mun doesn't remember if he's had the explanation or not right now~~] There's a couple of people with them around, right?

[He tilts his head to one side, watching the leaf-storm] I can manipulate wind fonons, along with other kinds of fonons. But wind has always kind of been the element I like using the most.

[He nods, looking relieved that he doesn't have to explain too much.] It seems a few of them get swept up by the rifts as well. At least they find good trainers to take care of them.

Well, it seems to be associated with wind as well. I suppose that might be why it seems so fond of you.

Are they not capable of taking care of themselves? [The way it's worded makes it sound like that]

Could be. I did also get it out of the mines, where it seemed to be trapped. At least it doesn't seem hard to take care of.

I suppose a wild Pokemon could survive reasonably well in this environment, but many prefer to bond with a human. Besides, I believe at least one arrived as an egg.

[He nods at the comment.] If Macy is any indication, it probably only needs regular access to sunlight and fresh water.
