DUNGEON LOG - TELOVIA MINES
The day dawns bright and early - the same as most every expedition. The only difference is that you'll need to take the teleportation pad to Lodestone as a starting point - the gliders and drones are already there. There's clouds on the horizon, though, so if you're going to take a glider and go, you'd better get going.
There's some new additions, though, to the usual group of androids seeing you off. Tau is checking over the drones ready to carry those who can't or won't use the gliders, and Muon is practicing opening and collapsing the wings of a glider with bright yellow sails. She grins at anyone who approaches, shooting them a thumbs up.
"Don't worry about getting lost or falling behind! As long as Tau's here, they'll keep us all together."
And with that bit of bright cheer, it's off towards the mountains you go...
----
From the air, the remains of the mining town are almost impossible to tell from any other part of the forest. The trees - especially the old ones - are much thinner, and that's really the only sign of what's below.
But Muon's bright yellow glider, leading the way, dips down into the treeline before landing in an open space, and anyone who isn't paying enough attention to follow will feel their glider being herded in the same direction by Tau's power - control not outright taken, but more of a nudge, like, hey buddy it's this way. The group lands just beyond the border of the Fissure - a tiny stable spot in whatever's left of this world.
And a good thing, too, because landing in the Fissure itself could prove quite difficult...

Would they?
[ He's been meaning to ask more about Minato's time... and now feels like as good time as any. So, he's going to be in the middle of typing... just as the side of one bin of crystals starts to give way to years of a decaying process. ]
cw: explosion, some blood, injury
Akira--! [He shoves his kohai back, simultaneously putting himself between him and the crystals in the split second before the explosion. It's a big one and they're at point blank range, flung back by the force of it. Everything goes white.
Minato doesn't know how much time has passed, when his senses return. Could be seconds. Could be hours. Probably not days. But everything hurts. He knows he's bleeding, and pretty badly. He has to find Akira.]
cw: all of the above + specifically a head injury
There's a loud ringing in his ears, by the time he wakes up again. And, for a long while, it doesn't even occur to him that he's speaking without the chance of being heard.
Where... is he?
He can feel something warm on the side of his head, and there's a persistent stinging ache on the back of his head. His movements are slow as he lifts a hand to the side of it, and there's not even an outward reaction after he lowers that hand to find that there's blood on it.
Ah... that's his, isn't it? ]
cw: it just gets worse from here tbh. fun times.
...Akira... Akira-kun... Can you move? [They need to get...elsewhere. Not here. Not where there could be more explosions. Need to find somewhere safe. If they can help one another, maybe they can...they just need to get clear of danger.]
sob, indeed............. stay tuned for new cw???
...?
[ Once again, he's trying to talk without realizing he can't. The ringing in his ears is too loud, and his mind feels stuffed full of cotton and static. He blinks a couple of times, and then shakes his head-- ah... fuck... that hurts.
Very slowly, he tries to move to his feet, only to wind up falling back down. After a couple of seconds, he attempts to stand again, and does manage to do so with the help of the, uh... wall? This is... fine.
He's got this.
Never mind that he's just standing there, for now. ]

The second try, he manages to get to his feet. He can barely stay up, but...]
Need to move. Get away from here. Akira. Come on. [....He can't. He'll have to walk on his own, he can't put any more strain on Akira, not while he's like this. Screw his own injuries.
Maybe if he were less injured, or if it hadn't been an explosion, or if any number of factors were different, he'd be thinking more clearly. Maybe someone else would've kept their wits enough to head back into the mines toward base camp. Instead, Minato defaults to going the way they were headed. Out. Outside. Freedom. Safety. Outside is nearer to the fissure's border.
So he'll lead his kohai out into the town. Somewhere. Coffee shop? Glyph? Somewhere. He's putting little to no actual thought into this. The further they go, the dizzier he gets.....must be bleeding still. Shit. Can't stop yet.]

... Not to say he doesn't stumble and sway, but... those are minor details!
Once they're out, his luck in keeping his balance runs out enough for him to stumble to the point of falling. If he could talk, a sharp whisper of "fuck" would be heard. He... really hates this. ]
no subject
His own balance is mostly shot, but he does what he can to keep Akira upright. It would be obvious to anyone watching that Minato's injuries are worse, but his priority is the older teen, he's outright ignoring his own limits. So when Akira falls? It's Minato's instinct to catch him.
He doesn't have the strength to do so and stay standing himself, so it ends up more like simply shielding his kohai from impact with the ground and the black vines that cover it. The effect is instant and paralyzing. Once again, Minato's awareness flees the present to focus intently on his past, on blood and fire and hands and his parents' deaths. On several other things besides.]
no subject
But, he... needs to... get back up. He has to keep moving.
It takes him three attempts, but he does manage to move to his feet. He's immediately going to try tugging Minato to his - efforts he just barely manages without falling over, yet again. ]
no subject
Something is tugging on him, and he's unable to resist. Even if he could, he wouldn't. Ever since the night his parents died, Minato has been prepared to join them. That axe is going to fall sometime. So let the world do as it will with him.
As Akira tugs him from the plants, his mind clears, and he's able to shove his grief away and lock it down as he has so many times in the past. It's no one's problem but his own. No one else needs to know it's there. No one else even wants to, or cares if it is. So up we get, and we have to keep moving.]
Keep going. Come on. [Of course, the second he steps into the patch of vines again it's like being struck by lightning. He feels sick.....]
no subject
Fortunately, he manages to avoid the vines that Minato steps on. He stumbles and sways considerably, but manages to continue tugging his friend along. Each step is heavy, and he feels so damn... sleepy. Like every movement of forcing himself to stay awake is torture. He needs to stay awake. He has to stay awake. To send a message...
It's with every ounce of strength he possesses, he's going to pause. To force through the mental sludge just enough to lift his phone and send a series of messages to someone: "need help
"outside
"mine entrance"
But, it's... almost immediately after that, he's dropping to the ground, unconscious. The phone is still on that screen, and his hand is brushing over the phone in just the right way that... the message is being switched over to video.
Meaning that the person he just sent that message, can now see everything happening, from a skyward view. ]
no subject
Not again. Not again. There's nothing he can do to make it stop. Nothing he can do to make it him instead. He drops to his knees and, thankfully, is fussing enough to notice Akira is still breathing before he slips fully back to the bridge.]
C....come on, can't carry you... [But he sure as hell can try. Damn his injuries, damn the fact he's losing blood fast, damn everything. Akira needs help. If Minato bleeds out getting him to it, that's just the way it'll be.
Too bad he's not really noticing the mound of dirt Moving steadily closer.]
no subject
Right now, it's only worried about two things: the phone that's covered by Akira's hand, as well as the bag that's slung over his shoulder. Of course, it might be easy to assume it's there to cause harm, given it's going to try slurping the bag, right now, and possibly giving the impression it's aiming to attack the human. (Damn it, Akira likes that bag, too...)
What do, Minato? ]
no subject
He's gonna punch some dirt.]
Get away!
[And maybe try to take his knord to it. Once he has Akira carefully on the ground, he puts himself staunchly in the way. No giant dirt monster is going to be hurting his kohai...!]
cw: acid and all it's capable of doing to the human body
The mound of dirt is capable of defending itself, and isn't hesitating to do so. To put it as delicately as possible, that acid it's spraying is going to be hitting both Minato and Akira.
Unfortunately, since Minato is closest, it's hitting him dead-on. ]
Cw: acid is bad news bears, death
Minato feels a sudden, splitting headache that makes him drop his weapon and clutch at his head. A flare of the same powerful energy from the beach occurs, for those who can feel it. The acid hits. Minato notes how strange it is to feel himself screaming but not hear a thing. He turns to spot the acid flying past him toward Akira, and registers that he couldn't protect him.
The acid burns through him quickly and painfully. Perhaps fortunately, enough hit him that Minato's systems fail him within seconds, and he dies just trying to reach his kohai. To wake or shove him away, anything. And of course, when Minato dies, the supernatural forces attempting to work around him shut off, services no longer required or available.]
cw: second death
And, on another fortunate note, the phone is undamaged... though, for anyone listening on the other end, there's a chance they got to hear Minato's scream. The creature will be leaving, now that the threat is gone... though it's taking the remains of the bag, and some other things that are now slurp-able, with it. ]
