[Beach, all two weeks]

[It's been a busy few weeks since Incendia, with a lot occupying Goro's time and attention. One of those things, it seems, was acquiring some new powers. Due to the nature of them, he's gone to the beach to practice.

Occasionally, this takes the form of toying with some of the fire crystals he collected from the city, then sending a ball of fire out to collide with the water...without summoning a Persona. It seems fairly simple to him, though, and doesn't take much time to get the hang of. Which is why most of the time, his practice is with something else.

Most of his time on the beach is spent throwing darts at nothing, then occasionally disappearing in green light and teleporting to where the dart landed. Even when he succeeds, he has a rough time with the landing, and it's not uncommon for him to stumble and fall face first into the sand.

Sometimes, the heat gets to be too much for him, and he has to take a break from his practice. At those times, visitors to the beach will find a merman swimming through the water.

Through the second week, a strange creature, with its 'tail' carved so that the end resembles the top of a heart, runs after the lost darts and retrieves them with shadowy, black arms. When she brings the dart back, Goro takes it from her with a pat on the head and tries again.]

[Station, August 5]

[On the afternoon of the 5th, anyone near crafting supplies, or even just wandering the halls, might get a surprise. Half a large eggshell darts around the station, propelled by something that refuses to come out from under it. If it finds anything that can be used for making costumes, be it scissors, sewing supplies, cloth, or even unattended clothes, it will reach out from under the shell with arms resembling shadows and try to drag the material off.

Goro usually isn't far behind it, trying to keep up with the thing's erratic movements and tendency to dart under furniture or between people's legs. Maybe he's the one to complain to if it gets underfoot, or tries to steal your stuff?]

[Given how often Akira finds herself working on sewing projects in the common room, she probably shouldn't be surprised she has company.

... Still, it's the nature of said company that has her letting out a started shout as some of her supplies and cloth start being tugged away.]

What in the world?!

[Whatever the thing is, the shout makes it jump...but not enough to let go of its spoils. It pulls the cloth and thread under the eggshell, then darts off to hide behind the couch.]

[....???? What in the....

She puts her current project down, turning around to try to get a better look at what just darted off behind the couch, squinting a little.]

... Ah, I startled you didn't I...? Sorry about that...

[... she grabs more cloth off of her pile and offers it to the creature as a peace offering. Sort of, at least...]

[It pokes hesitantly out from behind the couch, then squeaks when it sees her holding out the cloth. One of its arms slips out from under the shell to grab it and pull it into the shadows, before it shuffles over to look at the rest of the sewing supplies.]

It's easier for most people to learn to stick the version where you embed something in a wall, first. Perhaps try that until you're used to the sensation?

[On the bright side, you're not getting sick from it.]

[He brushes the sand off his dart and looks over.]

I won't have to worry about crashing into the wall, will I? Normally I wouldn't be hurt by it, but I'm not sure if i'm propelled magically.

There's a little bit of momentum - you're effectively throwing yourself, in some ways - but it usually isn't enough of an impact to hurt even normal people. I hit walls and brothers enough while learning and we both came out fine.

[I mean, ultimately they didn't, but not because of a few warp-crashes.]

I'll have to see about getting materials to make a wooden target, then. These darts would break before they would stick in the cliff.

beach, week 2

[Mai walks down to the beach, already looking a little wilted from the heat. She nods to Goro and blinks down at Mimikyu.]

A friend? ...Cute.

[The Mimikyu squeaks cheerfully and Goro kneels down to pat her on the head.]

Isn't she? She hatched earlier this week.

Nice to meet you. [She bows to her like a person.] From an egg... Bird-san or lizard-san? Or something else.

She's a pokemon. Apparently all of them hatch from eggs, regardless of what they are.

[The Mimikyu sways a bit, then awkwardly bows back...causing the head of the disguise to flop down.]

Merman time

[Shido is out on the beach, and yet somehow, he doesn't seem at all phased by the heat like usual. Instead, when he sees his son playing among the waves in his fishy form, he gives a smile and waves to him.]

[He sticks his torso out of the water to wave back. Between his grin and the way his fins are perked, it's pretty evident he's enjoying his swim.]

You're managing surprisingly well out here.

[Shido casually slides his hands into the pockets of his camo shorts.]

What do you mean?

The heat. I know you like it about as well as I do.

Beach, merman

[He hates this heat. Hates it. It reminds him of too many things, makes him want to stay inside and not do anything until it passes. But he has to do something because Sync is slowly going stir-crazy inside so...maybe swimming will be better? The black t-shirt of his uniform isn't coming off though, even with swimming. It's a tight one anyway, so it's fine to swim in.

He doesn't notice the mer until after he's in the water, because priorities are get out of the heat. Then he notices and kind of blinks, watching Goro swim around]

I should really get used to seeing new things, but this place still throws me off.

[He lifts his head and shoulders up out of the water when he sees he has company, just in time to hear what's being said.]

It can be a lot to adjust to. Shapeshifting abilities are pretty common here.

[Sync hasn't seen anyone shape-shift yet, though unknown to him he has met people with the ability]

The idea of changing shape seems odd, I have to admit.

I normally look like an ordinary human. This is just an alternate form I got from a Fissure a couple months ago.

[He flicks his fins, showing just a hint of something sharp at the tips of them.]

And I guess it is a little strange to do it in real life. It's a pretty prominent ability in mythology, where I'm from.

Beach

[ It'd been busy this past month but it felt like she really hadn't been going out and spending as much time with her friends as much, which had her somewhat begrudgingly leaving her room to go on a bit of a walk. Something that ended up with her heading to the beach on a whim, stopping short when she finds Akechi there.

Not really expecting it when he seemingly vanishes in a small burst of green light before reappearing elsewhere... and proceeding to fall over right after. ]

Not sure where you picked that up, but I don't think falling on your face is part of it.

[ Futaba sticks her hands into her pockets and exhales a soft sigh. The shorter hair is definitely good for the heat, for what it's worth. Doesn't stop her from making an idle comment about something the brunette is wearing all the same. ]

I like the skirt, but it doesn't seem practical for this kinda thing, though.

[At least he got it working this time. Izunia's advice had helped, but the more difficult form of warping is still a struggle...and an embarrassing one, as he hears Futaba's voice behind him.

He lets out a quiet groan as he sits up, quickly dusting the sand out of his hair. Course, rough, annoying, and gets everywhere indeed...]

It's better for the heat than any of the pants I could find that I was willing to wear.

Hmm... I guess I can see the logic there. I'm comfortable as I am. Plus I really don't think i'm suited for skirts.

[ It's just never been her thing. Mostly she's fine wearing cargo pants or shorts depending on what she felt like doing. Considering she doesn't even seem like she's dying from the heat, it's gotta say something.

Futaba does move over and offers a hand to Akechi all the same, offering to help get him up. ]

I've never seen much evidence that you cared about temperature in general.

[He does take the offered hand, though, and pulls himself to his feet...using a bit of his Reaper levitation to make it easier on Futaba.]

[ Marla's usually out doing some kind of textile work at different areas of the station, so when a mysterious blur enters the common room, then makes off with a ball of yarn, you can bet she has her eyes drawn to it.

...a small puppy jumps off her lap and follows, borfing all the way. ]
