[Church, once he's fully recovered and out and about, makes a point of heading down to fight club beach to practice magical shit. He's not...he's not good at it. Which is why he's enlisted Ardyn's help with it. But anyone should feel free to laugh at his terrible control over elemental magic. Because it's terrible.

If you stop by room 42, you can probably find him sorting clothes instead of keeping all the shit he looted in the armiger. And you can watch how he's bad at getting what he wants out of the armiger. There might also be little knickknacks and small accents and furniture but honestly it's a small room so not like a whole lot.

There's no real reason for him to be around the rise apartments, especially since the place still seems to be under construction, and he isn't keen to move from the station, but hey, the place has the beginnings of a gym, so...might as well take advantage of that, right?

Otherwise he's just aaaaaround. Maybe in the library, taking some notes! Or wandering around looking disgruntled. Or gruntled. Depends on the mood!]

[Well, when Church comes down to practice magic today, he'll find that someone else is already on the empty beach.

At least it's quite obvious that this isn't Ardyn this time - there's a trio of blue-glowing orbs floating around Izunia, each about eight inches across. It looks pretty impressive, really, though less so than an Armiger at full throttle.

And then he whips one hand out in the direction of the waves offshore, and one of the orbs flings itself in that direction, and when it impacts the water -

FWOOSH. That's a good bit more than the splash of an object impacting the water - it's definitely some kind of explosion.]

[Once he figures out it's not Ardyn, then he's going to definitely not come any closer. He considers just turning around and going back inside, but that would be letting Izunia win. Can't have that. Time to find a quieter stretch of the beach to practice at, then.]

[It's not a heckin' competition, Church.

You didn't think Izunia wouldn't eventually wander over, though, did you? There's just one light ball following him now, floating at about waist-height. He'll watch for a moment, for now.]

[Actually, he definitely thought Izunia wouldn't wander over. Why would he? Ardyn's not even around yet, so there's even less reason, and it makes Church feel awkward to practice something like this without guidance. Especially being watched. He can't make excuses for the way flames flicker and die on the sand like he always used to make for his rifle shots going awry. Nor the way electricity dances across his fingers and does literally nothing else.

Sure does seem to manage a meager pile of snow that doesn't immediately melt, though. That's a start.]

And so after a moment, he folds his arms.]

[The music is mostly under control today, which means it's back to the library for Asch. Chances are that Church will run into the kid with the really long red hair hanging out at one of the study tables himself, scribbling notes and... Diagrams? Those are some surprisingly complicated diagrams.

Also there appears to be a snake of some sort just. Chilling. On the corner of his table.]

[Mai can be found practising swings with a new, bright blue plastic sword while Bear-san sits in the corner pawing at a ball. She looks in Church's direction and gives him a small nod.]

Yep! Gotta keep those sweet gains up. [church please] Having a grand total of Fuck with a side of All to do at the station is driving me up the wall, so this is at least familiar. God, we never got a gym in the mansion. And then the stupid mall gym wasn't even real!

I like watching sports. Can't say I've ever participated myself. Didn't exactly have a grifball league in the middle of nowhere.

Would this be different if I said another element? I mean, I like burning things. It's gotta be fire. Especially if it's from you. How do I fire without being so mad I'm gonna set the fucking atmosphere aflame?

[i hope you don't mind a spectator, as Lily heard the sound of magic and immediately went to check it out, watching him.

She's... not gonna say anything yet. That would be mean. She'll just. Watch. And see how he's doing to see if she can help?]

[Well, as far as lightning magic goes, he looks like he's full of static and can occasionally actually shoot a zap at the air. Sometimes he's even able to make a flash of light and a small sound of thunder. For ice, mostly he can frost the ground around him, even make some patches of wet but still perfectly slippery ice. Fire seems hardest to control. Not hard to conjure up, but when he goes from a handful of sparks to a hand on fire, he doesn't seem to know quite what to do with it.]

Don't let yourself get distracted. Focus on the feeling of how that magic feels to you, and clear your mind of everything else.

Gah-! [He jumps, and the air nearby suddenly seems dense with that ozone smell, that right before a lightning strike sense. Thankfully for her, the lightning doesn't actually strike, but it's a ball of crackling light in Church's hand before it dissipates almost as soon as it appears.] Jesus, give a guy a little warning when he's neck deep in magical concentrating, maybe, I coulda hurt you.

Chuuuuurch! [ 'sup Church, there's a Nono flying overhead, clad in her battle outfit. She waves her arms once she sees Church down on the beach though and descends down towards him.

Oh, hey, is he shooting lightning??? ]

[He is, only not now when he looks...UP to see Nono.] Whaaaaat, you can fucking fly, too? What are you wearing?

Oh, yeah. I'm a Buster Machine! [ Like that. Explains everything. ]

And this is my, uh, Buster Machine... uniform? Outfit? Something like that.

[ She says all of this as she touches down. There's actually a thin, bubble-like barrier around her that fades as she lands. ]
