phantasmalrift | Time for a Change

Who: Futaba & Girl!Akira
What: It's come to her attention that her hair is getting juuuust a bit too long to manage so she enlists the help of someone she knows to help her change this.

[ As soon as she left that last message to the other Akira, Futaba got up and stretched her arms out above her head before reaching a hand back and pulling some of her hair over her shoulder. One problem had been taken care of in terms of keeping her color it's orangish hue but she'd been here a couple of months now and her hair was growing out a bit too much now.

With the heat starting to get worse, most might have just decided to get a ponytail and be done with it but she wanted... well. Not that.

Changes were good and people in the series along with games she watched all got haircuts when they wanted to have it be symbolic of some kinda change they were making in their lives, right? So this was a definitive. She hadn't had short hair in years but now that it was out there? Not gonna back down now. Yup. All that was left was to wait for the other girl patiently. ]

[Admittedly, Akira didn't come straight to Futaba's room--she'd made a couple of quick stops for a broom and dustpan to clean up afterwards. Maybe something to keep the hair off of Futaba's clothes...? Well, it's not like Akira was using her top sheet in this weather anyway...

So it's with broom, dustpan, and scissors in hand that Akira finally knocks no the door.]

Futaba-chan, I'm here.

[ She immediately moved to the door and opened it, having settled on the bed recently during the time she'd been waiting for Akira. Offering a smile as she moved to let her in. ]

Really owe you one for this. I know it was kinda last minute and all.

No worries, I'm happy to help. [A pause.] We should probably move to the bathroom for this, though. Easier clean-up, you know?

[Said as she indicates the broom.]

Hmm? [ She hadn't quite considered that yet. ] You have a point. Let's get all set up in there, then.

[ Which means she'll follow you when that happens, seeming totally energetic and ready for this to be a thing that's going to happen. ]

Right.

[Off to the bathroom! Where Akira sets the broom and dustpan against a wall, lays the scissors on the counter top and pulls out the sheet, setting that on there, too.]

We'll want to get your hair wet first... Should we just do that in the sink?

[ Futaba cast a glance between the sink and then Akira before nodding in agreement. ]

Sounds good to me. Think it's big enough to get all my hair wet, though?

[ Considering she does have a lot and all. It's not a bad thing to be asking, she figures. ]

I think it'll be fine...? Probably.

[... She should probably get a towel or two just in case they have to move this operation.

... And actually, while she's at it...]

Give me a sec and I'm gonna grab that chair and roll it in here too. It'll be easier if you're sitting down.

Yup. Definitely a lot easier on the both of us.

[ Going to just stand aside so Akira can go and get the chair, sitting on the closed toilet lid as she waits patiently. One hand absently fiddling with some of her hair in the meantime. ]

When you're ready to go, just tell me what to do and i'll be on it in a second.

[And she'll go get that chair and wheel it in.]

Might be a good idea to take your glasses off before we get started. I think we're good to start otherwise.

[She's going to grab a towel, then gesture to the chair.]

Whenever you're ready.

[ Nodding in agreement, she slipped off her glasses and put them on the counter before moving to sit down in the chair. ]

There. Good to go!

[ Totally looking pumped for this, Futaba nearly relaxed into the chair before something occurred to her and she held a hand up just a little bit above her shoulder where Akira could see it. ]

I was thinking about it being this length. Doesn't hafta be exact or a perfect cut, but something around here works for me, okay?

Alright, I'll keep it in mind.

[With that, she's going to turn on the water and adjust the temperature. This would be way easier if she'd just had a spray bottle, but... oh well. They could make do with this.

Something a little on the cooler end because of the weather, maybe...]

I think the sink should be big enough if we do approach this a bit at a time.

Got it. We can totally make this work!

[ See? She has complete faith in you there, Akira. Willing to work with the other girl without any second thoughts to make this go smoothly. ]

So where do we start?

Start from the bottom and work our way up, I think. Seems like it'd be the easiest way to approach it.

Right. Sounds good to me!

[ Nodding, Futaba gave her a thumbs up and moved to sit in the chair properly. Totally ready for this. ]

[Akira nods and smiles, starting to wet Futaba's hair from the bottom and working her way up, humming as she does.]

... You know, it's kind of nice doing this sort of thing.

Mm? How so?

[ Closing her eyes and complying the best she can. Being patient wasn't that hard to do, especially with this task being what it was. ]

It's just so... normal, you know? Even with the circumstances decidedly not so.

Looking at it that way, I think I can see it. Doing something normal when everything around us really isn't.

[ Just feeling a bit amused by this now. ]
