DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE SHORE

The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -

Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!

When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)

"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."

They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."

Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.

"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."

And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

[WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT okay seagull is not down for this, but since Astolfo's got it off balance, the triple strike lands two grazes and one solid hit! The bird is now bleeding over the back of its right wing and looking somewhat the worse for wear...]

[The thing about sky predators - especially distracted ones - is that they don't look up. This applies doubly when they're already trying their best to stay in the air...

Better grab on quick and dig your fingers into those feathers, Touma, because it's going to start even wilder flailing in an attempt to throw you off! It's a moving targeted now -

[Well, it's certainly a lot easier to find the bird's head now that Touma has revealed it!

Beyond that, though, who knows where the ear canal is under all those feathers, especially as the bird continues to flail in an attempt to dislodge the guy clinging to it. Careful you don't get smacked away completely unintentionally, Lettybee -

Fortunately, it's too small for the bird to really care about at the moment.]

[Better watch out, because you guys are damaging the bird enough that it's starting... to come down... under the weight of the idiot clinging to its back...

There's a shriek of pain, and it's a good thing you both warped out of the way, because the bird is flailing its feet at you now.]

[And that's pretty much a direct hit, now that the seagull is revealed! Time for the big bird to come down, screeching and beating its wings against the air all the way.]

[The gull's already coming to the ground, and Aya's winds aren't helping it stay up. It manages to land, but off-balance, wings still caught in the powerful gusts.]

Well, I guess it can be both. [Cori leans back and smiles, balancing on her hands.] I'm pretty sure this place will be much calmer once stabilized too.

CATHERD + ROUND THREE

[There is a guy clinging to its back and THIS IS NOT A FUN TIME FOR ANYONE, especially mr seagull. Touma's magic nullifying abilities have revealed the bird in full - though its feathers retain an iridescent sheen.

Between the blows to its shoulder and the strike of Kurama's darkness arrow in its chest, it's grounded and not getting back into the air anytime soon, and Aya's gusts have it off balance. It's also bleeding from several places on its underside and has another set of burns from Alastor's electrified sword.

BOSS ACTIONS;

With Touma clinging to its back, it also can't use any of its magical ranged attacks! ... So it's prioritizing snapping its beak at him in an attempt to GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF

Please someone distract it before it actually manages to get a beakful of this idiot teen, or it's going to end badly.

MELEE PHASE TIME.]

[Dizzy still from Astolfo's horn blasts, Prompto tries to take aim at the green spot on the bird's head. There's too high a chance of hitting Touma, though, so with a frustrated noise, he shoots for the bird's toes instead, where there are all those sensitive nerve clusters. If he can keep the bird off-balance and distracted while the melee fighters run up, he'll call it good.]

[People who are incredibly late to this party? Robin.

Anyone around probably heard him make the most undignified noise that's somewhere between alarm or exasperation at the sight of someone jumping off the back of his sister's pegasus.

Still there's no time for Robin to linger on that right now--that bird's coming in for an unsteady landing. Perfect. Robin draws Balmung.

And then with the sword's boon of enhanced speed, he charges.]

[Well, at least the bee has a nice perch somewhere on the thing's head. It's...just going to hang there while Letitia quickly takes action. With a long and agile leap, her urumi swirls as she flies in the air. With a hard swing she aims downward to wrap her burning-metal whip around the thing's neck.

Maybe if she's lucky she'll land on its back. But, one thing at a time, right?]

[Ow, his ears. Well, he manages to call his sword back to his hand, but he's not happy. It's also up for debate if he can even hear those screeches. And, of course, there's an idiot clinging to its back, so he can't just zap it...just great.

You know what? He's just going to launch himself forward, sword first, and try to stab the bird.]

A boning knife, to be exact. She's already running forward while the bird is focused on Touma, lunging forward to stab it where the wing meets the shoulder.]

Take this, you overgrown fowl!

[Distract it, you say? Alright. Crow's going to draw what appears to be a blue lightsaber from nowhere and fly in to take a swing at the bird's head. Over here, featherbrain!]

[Guess who's flying up beside Robin, Brave Lance in hand? He may have Balmung's power to bolster his speed, but he's still not going to exceed an airbound pegasus on foot.

Wren had watched the bird go crashing down — and Touma with it — with no small amount of trepidation, but that didn't mean she was about to let up on it; she wasted no time bringing Catria to the ground. The moment she spotted her brother, of course she immediately moved to back him up.]

Touma was desperately clutching onto the monstrous seagull for dear life. His plan, if you could call it that, worked about as well as he could have hoped. He wasn't a bloodstain on the ground and the seagull was stripped of his protective cloak. Unfortunately, things were never that easy. His presence provoked an immediate response from the feathered monster he was ridding. Holding on using nothing more than sheer determination, he maintained his death grip on the seagull as it frantically flailed about and tried to snap him in two with its beak.

[Jetshard had run for cover when the gull had first appeared, because the doctor is fully aware of those limitations and those limitations include "not any use fighting giant magic birds." She hadn't fled entirely, though, and once the avian monster has been grounded, she's a little bolder about her approach. Still staying carefully out of reach of the bird, and out of the way of her allies, but... if anyone's going to get themself into a position where they need immediate medical attention, she figures this is the point of the fight where that would happen. She's ready to act, if it does.

But until she's needed, yeah. Deeeefinitely staying out of range of the grounded gull.]

[ hana has no idea what's happening, but it looks like there's a good fight going on, so. have a giant mech swooping in, right in front of its face. she starts shooting at it, boosters keeping her in midair. ]
