DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE SHORE

The morning of the 9th, everyone will get a message sent to their communication devices -

Okay, guys! I think we have enough stabilizers to try and get the shoreline stable. If you want to help out, grab your supplies and come on up to the roof!

When characters arrive at the roof, they'll find Top - with a wheeling table full of many copies of the same odd-looking device - the two exploratory drones, and a ramp down off the roof to the ground. (The latter looks a little hastily constructed.)

"Okay," Top says, picking up one of the devices. "Here's the stabilizers. Stick them to walls and stuff - mostly out of the way places where they're not going to get knocked off - and then press the buttons along the side."

They demonstrate, unfolding the set of legs at one end of the device before showing the buttons to anyone who's close enough. "Go ahead and take a couple, especially if you've got one of those space-saving inventories going on, I know there's like four of you with those? Strange got some first aid kits together, too, if you want."

Sure enough, another table nearby has the med kits... As well as traditional paper bag lunches, courtesy of Bottom. Don't question it too much.

"We'll be staying back here to keep track of the stabilization progress and work the drones," Top says, "but don't hesitate to call if you get in trouble! We'll send one of these guys down to get you an evac if you need it."

And with that, you're free to go down the ramp... Or to make for the beach however else you might choose to go.

AAAAAAH WHAT IS THAT MAKE IT STOP--!

[Gunner down, broskis. Well, good news for Astolfo maybe since Prompto was hella gonna try to shoot it in the head next, and a dead seagull wouldn't make a great mount.]

Nah, but they do this flashy explodey thing and I couldn't see a thing for, like, forever.

[Well, that does shock Cori a bit, but she raises her own thumb piano, running her fingers over it and playing her own variation on the high-pitched shrieking. She raises her voice as loud as she can, slowly resolving the shrieking into a tune that should strengthen the damage done by anyone in range.]

And can you keep your head, your backbone, or your heart?

Gkk-! [Cori blinks rapidly as her eyes get stung by glitter, throwing up an arm to block the worst of it. Alright, if it's going to be using elemental attacks, she'd better change her strategy...]

[A shimmer appears around the group as she sets up a Light Screen.]

"Shit. That weird seagull is starting to move about."

Unfortunately, Touma had no means to engage an enemy who had the ability of flight. His only ability, Imagine Breaker, was limited to his right hand. Under normal circumstances this would be make fighting impossible, however, he just so happened to have someone with him who possessed the ability of flight as well.

"Can you take me with you on that fairy-tale like horse of yours? I can make it so we can at least see the seagull."

"Really?"

Wren wonders what manner of ability this kid has, but with the monster on the move, she doesn't have time to stand around any longer and grill him for details. She commands her pegasus to touch down, and gestures for Touma to join her.

"Alright, hop on. And hold on tight."

[thoroff]

With her new passenger aboard, Wren takes to the skies in earnest, and just in time to avoid the awful glitter wind, too. She has her pegasus circle around the monster gull, carefully avoiding melee range, until she's regained some height on it — an effort that's stymied somewhat by the panic that indescribable noise sends Catria into. Thanks, Astolfo. Wren, experienced rider that she is, has no trouble hanging on, but Touma had better have taken her advice to heart...

Once she's in a decent enough position, however, she brings her mount to a stop and pulls a yellow-covered book from her belt.

"Now let's see if we can't clip your wings."

Taking careful consideration of the vague outline of the bird along with its shadow, she points her other arm at her foe. The tome's pages begin to flip rapidly as if by their own will and a series of glowing patterns and runes appear around Wren as she fires a lancing bolt of lightning into the gull's wingspan.

As soon as she's finished casting her spell, she asks, without looking back, "Right, now what's the plan?" It's a question she's more accustomed to receiving than asking, but she doesn't know what exactly it is that Touma intends to do, so the ball's in his court...

Well, maybe we'll be allowed out more once everything's stabilized. That's the point of doing this, right? To give us more space to move?

[ And of course Violet's here -- did you think she'd see a battle going on and just let it go without joining in herself. She's got the typewriter in its travel case to cover her eyes with as she comes tearing up the beach, yelling to make herself heard above the awful din. ]

Which of you is capable of moving me into range of this creature's head?

[ Time to solve this problem the only way Violet has ever been taught how! Violence! ]

Is that the point? I kind of just thought it was polite to help our android buddies out. I mean, they've done so much for us, putting us up and everything.

... It wasn't a very good song, but it'd hopefully get the point across.

She switches to an exotic dance, which... Somehow has the same accuracy-boosting effect as her song. More importantly, it frees her voice to start speaking arcane words - and cast Cure Moderate Wounds on Alastor to fix his wing-

[Performance interrupted! But... Once the winds subside, she gets to it again!]

... That. Is actually a good question! I saw a few out in the water a bit, but other than that...

[That doesn't quite translate conceptually, but in this context "mom" more or less fits as a common element of how trolls refer to their lusi, so she gets the picture.]
