Catch-all log
Who: Bai Lin and whoever else
What: Testing new abilities, taking new students, trying new recipes, and learning new skills
When: Various points across June, I'm not thinking about it too hard honestly
Where: Various places around the Station
Warnings: Nothing yet!
-1: Magic Resistance-
If you are someone who has magic powers that Lin knows of, you'll find her seeking you out at some point. She has a bottle in one hand. The label read "All purpose multi-vitamins. Strengthen immune system, increase energy, resist magic, and more!"
She'd found the bottle while searching the beach for a good place to meet with someone and learn to swim. The freshness seal had still been intact, and after some scanning the androids had assured her that it was legit. The bottle she was holding was probably the SECOND thing you would notice about her right now, however. The first was that she was wearing a gaudy, god awful, orange and blue Hawaiian shirt.
Don't let that distract you, though. She had special medicine that made her resistant to magic now, and she wanted to see how effective it was.
"Hey, uh, can I borrow you for a minute?"
-2: Martial Arts-
Since the first meeting of Fight Club, Lin has started officially started giving regular lessons in the Supreme Soaring Fist style of kung fu to anyone who is interested. You won't be learning to fly or do lightning punches like she does any time soon, this is a beginner's class, but being able to throw a punch without spraining your wrist is usually not a bad skill to have.
This prompt is for sparring, lessons, signing up, or anything along those lines. Classes are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, at 10am, on a grassy field right outside the station.
-3: Do It Yourself
A few days ago, Lin picked up a book from the library out of curiosity. Today, we see the fruits of her reading.
The kitchen is a mess.
Not in the food-caked-to-the-walls sort of way, but apparently Lin saw fit to empty out just about every cupboard looking for something. The counter tops are stacked with everything, and the only clue as to WHY is a book titled "Extreme Brewing" sitting by the microwave. She turned around when she heard you come in and, with a look of supreme annoyance, declared that "We don't have any yeast!"
-4: Swim lessons
Lin had borrowed a swimsuit from the bin by the hot tub (she'd found something along these lines that she had deemed acceptable.) before heading down to Glitterstone Beach. It was the middle of the day, when the dragon eels weren't going to be a danger. She'd been putting it off until she fully recovered from the last fissure, but today her cracked rib barely felt sore at all and she figured she'd probably be okay getting a bit more physical. Plus, Sonja was the one who had offered to teach her, and Lin was not too proud to admit she was pleased to have a reason to hang out with her in a skimpy outfit.
She'd arrived early, spent a few minutes pacing, then noticed that she was being ridiculous and sat down to meditate until Sonja arrived. Get her feelings under control. This wasn't an excuse to flirt, this was an opportunity to learn a valuable skill.
Sure.

4!
She circles around to stand where her parasol's shadow will fall over Lin, hoping to avoid startling her entirely, and smiles down at the other woman. "Ready?"

She stood up and brushed herself off. "So...what now? Just march into the ocean?"

If Lin doesn't stop them before they get to a bit less than waist deep, Sonja pauses there. "This should be deep enough to begin with, I think."
no subject
She caught herself staring at her when she was supposed to be listening and shook her head abruptly, clearing it so she could focus on the task at hand. How was she supposed to get anything done if she couldn't even manage a simple conversation? "R-right. So what should I do now?"

"I wondered if you might be able to show me something."

"Sure. What did you have in mind?"

He hadn't come here for that in mind, but the idea is something he'd definitely give thought to later. Stepping back a couple of paces, Carnivac's body begins to shift. In a slick, mechanical process, flesh parts to give way to a larger mechanical form.
Carnivac looks down at Lin, some few feet taller than her now.
"Does this work?"
no subject
"Ah..."
He was asking something? Lin took a second to catch her mental balance. "I, uh...don't know if I could teach you everything if you're not human, but I...might be able to show you a few tricks?"

[Because of course that's Jail's immediate reaction to being told that something important isn't there. It's probably just reflex by now.]
[That said, she doesn't seem overly bothered by the situation, casually walking into the kitchen and looking around to see if she could spot any of her preferred snacks in the chaos of Bai Lin's attempt to uncover the yeast.]
no subject
[That would explain the big jugs sitting on the kitchen table over there.]
no subject
Nah, too easy.
[She looks curiously at the Extreme Brewing book.]
You're working off this thing, right? Mind if I take a look?
no subject
[Around now, Lin realizes just how much of a mess she's made in the kitchen. Now she's going to have to clean it ALL up or she won't be able to sleep tonight.]
no subject
So, yeast is that stuff people use to make bread, right? Not flour, the other thing.

(After the past few months back home, she's not used to having the amount of free time she has here.)
She's actually a little early today, waving cheerfully when she shows up.]
Morning!

Something terrible happened here.
Yuuri's a little too aghast to actually respond right away. Her mouth hangs open and then she just sort of blinks and then finally closes it. ]
I... I suppose we don't...
I–is there a reason you need yeast so badly, or...?
no subject
[That should solve any POSSIBLE confusion Yuuri had. At least she didn't blast Lin with a fire extinguisher.]

[ There's a pause. ]
Brewing... what, exactly?

[ Okay that's... some degree of context but we still need to come back to the million dollar question of; ]
And – why are you brewing mead, exactly?
