Entering the Bone Zone
Who: Karamatsu and YOU
What: Karamatsu picks up a trinket that he thinks is purely cosmetic...but it's anything but
When: May 25th IC/June 20th OOC
Where: Common Room
Warnings: Body horror in regards to bones bending in ways they shouldn't but nothing bloody or gorey; very brief mention of cannibalism in the post itself
[It's only been two days since his arrival and Karamatsu has learned a lot about the station. One, that it's definitely not Ryslig and he and Choromatsu have wound up in a new world/dimension/something entirely, and two...that not everything is as it seems. You'd think that would mean he'd be wary of things that seem innocuous, but...just because Karamatsu has seen shit doesn't mean he's not still a bit dumb. He's still very much a bit dumb.
He usually rose early these days, long gone being the times where he'd sleep until noon and only wake when mom called for breakfast. It's something he misses though, having not seen her for two years. The best way not to think about it is to get out, though, so he leaves Choromatsu to continue sleeping and goes exploring. He hasn't said as much to his brother yet, but he's worried. He doesn't yet know how things are going to be for them here. He doesn't feel the presence of the gods anymore, but what comfort is that when you're already a monster who has to consume people to survive? It's something he doesn't want to do to people who have been nothing but nice. They have some time before their hunger would catch up with them, so for now he chooses to not think about it. Maybe, if he can find them, he'll discuss the issue with these...androids he's heard about.
At some point or another, Karamatsu wanders up on some things left behind unwanted, bits of loot from others collected that they hadn't wanted to keep for whatever reason. He and Choromatsu are drowning in cutlery so they don't need anything like that...but he does find an interesting looking arm-band that he decides to take to wear. Though the small bones it's made of remind him of things he's tried to burn from his memory, he can't completely kill his love for them. It matches his jacket, anyway. So with that put on his upper right top-most arm, he continues on through the station and back around to the common room...and somehow while walking on the smooth floor, his carapaced feet slip out from under him and he trips, falling forward. He can't fly indoors well, so instinct tells him to simply throw out his arms and catch himself like he might any other time.
...except when his right arm connects with the floor, it bends inward like it were made of taffy, curling in towards himself and causing him to fall completely to the floor, his cheek hitting the ground. He rolls over onto his back with a groan, sitting up halfway until he notices...his arm having been bent at almost a complete right angle in the wrong direction.
He stares, dumbfounded, not understanding what just happened. It doesn't even hurt, it's just...horrific to look at, incomprehensible to his eyes.
Then he screams.]

[Mai stumbles out of her room and bolts to the common room, sword in hand and struggling to stay up. She catches her breath and looks forward.]
What?
[...staring.]
no subject
[Karamatsu's head snaps up when he hears someone suddenly clamber out to where he is, and it's all he can do to sit up and look at her...holding his very oddly bent arm across his lap.]
no subject
no subject
[He isn't...in any pain though, which is the most bizarre thing. Is he just losing his mind now or what's happening-]
no subject
no subject
[He gestures to it again.]
This happened!
no subject
[She kneels down and carefully looks him over.]
They might help. Or know who can.

[Another hit of guilt, but Mai shakes her head; she's not even sure if her healing works anymore, she tells herself, although even then she knows that it probably does. The thought still takes her down into a place she doesn't want to think about, with lights and jeers and broken glass.
Instead, she takes a deep breath and goes to pick Karamatsu up in both her arms so she can try to lift him and start walking back to the medical bay. Bugs are light, right, and she's still fairly strong, so it's worth a shot.]

[Karamatsu exclaims with surprise when Mai moves to pick him up, causing him to falter almost immediately.]
N-no- I- you don't have to carry me!
[Not that he's against it, but moreso that he does not think she should have to be carrying him, a 6 foot bug monster. Especially not when so much of him is dangerous...and bitey.]
I should be able to walk? It...doesn't actually hurt. Somehow.
no subject
You can? Even flexible like that?
no subject
[He lifts up his other arm, bending it at the elbows before curling his claws toward his palm.]
The rest of me seems okay, strangely.
no subject
no subject
No......everything seems in order.
no subject
[Pause.]
That sounded strange.
no subject
[Well it's. Sorta jelly now, but it's all...bended, for sure. But what's even stranger is that while they were talking, it's risen back up to something closer to normal. Just by about a centimeter or so.]
But the only thing different about me right now is that I picked up a bracelet from the items of things people were not keeping...
no subject
no subject
Do you think I should?

[He looks over to the arm band. He supposes he has nothing to lose...
So he moves to slip it off, and with that action his arm suddenly fixes itself rigidly in place, no longer returning to its normal state like it slowly had been.]
no subject
Strange artifact. ...Usually they're just bizarre. And often useless.
no subject
[He asks, gesturing with said currently useless appendage.]
