[The weather's cleared up and Mai is feeling... well, decently better. Well enough to stand out and watch the ocean for a while. Her hair is out of its ribbon for once and she's wearing her blue ruffly shirt with black cargo shorts, because everyone in this station is a fashion disaster, but she doesn't really seem to mind. If you approach, she speaks, still looking out at the water:]

Hello. ...Feeling alright?

[After all, just about everyone here is either bitter or hungover today.]

[kitchen]

[Mai is well enough that her appetite has returned, so you can find her in the kitchen outside her bedroom, raiding the fridge and cooking... uh... well? It looks like a spice-infused crab omelette, really, full of the various vegetables and other ingredients from the storage. She looks at it as it continues to fry and nods.]

Not the same, but... Close.

[forest]

[Most people would rest a little more before they went out looking for supplies. Mai doesn't have that kind of sense. She'll take her sword, tie her hair back with the ribbon again (still somewhat stained from the last Fissure, even after washing), and walk out to the forest. Maybe there'll be something interesting in there...

But the second she hears weird noises, she immediately cuts running through the trees.]

Where--?

[At night, Mai does indeed return from her expedition, followed by... okay, that's new. It's a small, mechanical creature walking at her heels, in the shape of either an ugly dog or a cute bear. Occasionally, it'll wander a few steps away and inspect the machines. Mai, for her part, lets the robot bear do what he pleases, even smiling a little.]

[It's nice to watch the ocean. Akira was actually coming out here to do the same thing. She smiles and gives Mai a wave.]

Alright enough, I think. I actually missed a lot of... last night. How are you feeling?

Better. I won't trouble anyone.

[She looks over to Akira and stares for a few seconds, blinks, and nods.]

New? ...Akira?

[She nods in response.]

Yeah, it's more other world weirdness going on. Akira Kurusu. [A beat.] Although you know that already. The last Fissure pulled me in.

Mm. The one already here... Not the first of you I've met, either.

It's nice to meet you. [She beams.]

So there really are a bunch of Akiras out there, huh... It's kind of interesting to think about.

Probably a lot of everyone. Variations. Worlds that split according to things happening or not. A world where you forgot your textbook. A world where you took it with you. One where you dated a different person. ...Or people. A world where you did good for the world. And another where you failed.

Worlds where your DNA is just the tiniest bit different...

That's incredible.

It's a legend in my world. But I hadn't seen it for myself. At least not until arriving somewhere else.

Hello. [She turns and bows.] You're happy. Did something happen.

[Water in kettle. Kettle on stove. Get cup and tea.]

Just had fun at the party, is all. I'm all energized today!

Not hungover... [She contemplates this as she turns the omelette.] Powerful.

I felt kind of bleh when I woke up but I drank a bunch of water and I'm fine now.

[Still waiting for kettle to boil.]

What'd you end up doing? I didn't see you there.

Sleeping off illness. Moral support. Protest.

[ Maddie enters the kitchen with her cat, as per usual. Her white cane is out and her triangle hipster texas shirt on.

She pauses when she hears Mai talk to herself for a moment. ]

Is that you, Mai? Are you feeling better?

Maddie. ...Yes. After rest. Are you both well.

We didn't get sick, if that's what you mean. I'm not even sure Zel can get sick, actually.

[ The cat sighs. ]

Okay. The healers... I should make it up to them.

[blackestwitch]

I'm sure they don't mind. People get sick, it happens.

[She takes in an audible breath and cracks an egg over the pan.]

You told me something important. So... I have a. Complicated relationship. With healing magic.

[blackestwitch]

A... complicated relationship? [ She sounds a little curious. She takes a couple steps toward Mai, getting further into the kitchen.

She also tries to ignore the good smells because this seems important. ]

I am well. I appreciate your concern, though I don't believe I've made your acquaintance. Ravus Nox Fleuret, Hi- private citizen, I suppose.

[Ravus looks like he hasn't had a full night's sleep in a month, but he doesn't appear hungover. He has his usual white coat on, but beneath it is a mauve shirt with a picture of a stop sign on it. He feels it expresses himself sufficiently that he forgives it its ugliness.]

[Mai hesitates. She thinks for a second and nods.]

Kawasumi Mai. ...A title?

One I have since renounced, or had stripped from me. The order of events is irrelevant. [As for his other title, what use is Prince of the Blood in a world without even the remnants of Tenebrae? That wound is still too fresh.]
