DUNGEON LOG: KEYSTONE REEF
Expedition day dawns, as usual, with an android mass text -
Okay, so, this time we're aiming to go out and stabilize the Fissure in the reef you can see up a little to the north of here. The waters are usually pretty calm this time of year, so if you can swim instead of needing to take a boat, that'd be a great help. We only have a few of them.
Also, I know that last time was a mess, so I'm just gonna say this: If you need to get out for any reason, just send us a message and a picture of your location. We'll get a drone out to you as soon as we can and bring you home. No questions asked.
( ゚▽゚)/ Stay safe out there! When you're ready to go, meet us down at the beach. The rocky, sparkly one, not the sandy one.
Unlike previous expeditions, this time there's no rooftop sendoff - instead, as Charm noted, the tables are set up on Glitterstone beach, along with a series of boats pulled up on the sand. Two rowboats that could maybe sit six people but probably better suited for four, a trio of inflatable rafts (with motors attached to the back, all mismatched) of about the same size, a two-person dinghy and a long canoe that could hold two or three.
Besides the little fleet, there's also the usual bagged lunches (in gallon ziplocs this time, and other such watertight containers), and every boat is equipped with a large number of those chepa dollar-store water bottles, all with their airtight store seals. There's also a selection of life vests and other floatation thingies in a box next to the table. Strange hovers over the setup, checking watertightness of a handful of first aid kits with a spritzer and a bucket to submerge things in. They give a little wave to anyone passing by headed to the boats.
For those who opt instead to swim, everything seems perfectly normal until you reach the border of the Fissure... When, very suddenly, it isn't.

Well, he won't press it. Instead, he finally gets up and brushes himself off.]
Are you all set to go into the Fissure, then?
no subject
Yeah. I've finished helping a few others set up, and everything is stored in my inventory, ready to go.
[ After tilting his head to the side just a bit, hand twisting a strand of bangs, he asks, ]
Do you want some healing items? You'd have to keep the stuff in your pockets, but... better safe than sorry.

[The name seems rather self-explanatory, but like magic (or psychic powers) it's still a bit... of a wonder?]
no subject
Yeah. Like...
[ He's pulling out one (1) Takemedic! It's in the form of a pill inside bubble packaging
because the game doesn't specify stuff like this, and... whatever. We do what we want. ]It heals minor injuries in the Metaverse... I have no idea how it would work for you, but... [ small, gentle smirk ] At the very least, it should make you feel less tired?

When he takes it there's... definitely a quiet consideration and awe. His gaze draws up to the teen in front of him. When he'd met him, he thought him a potentially dangerous youth who could barely keep his temper in check, but in reality, he's...
He's kind, patient, and compassionate. He can see why his son was drawn towards him.
His hand closes around the pill.]
... thank you.
[...he'd already thanked him earlier for everything, but.. he can't help but feel those same feelings well up again. Undeserving and unworthy as he is... Akira does seem truly determined to help him.
...even if it's just for Akechi, for Akira's own benefit... he's still grateful.]
RNGbot is being a brat and I couldn't resist just letting this happen......................
He's just trying to make sure you come out of there okay!!!1 ]
Well... I don't want to see you getting hurt? So...
[ Annnd he's just... clearing his throat, awkwardly shifting his stance a bit as he avoids looking at Shido for now. When... did he start to genuinely care so much about this guy's well-being, jeez... ]
Anyway, stay safe out there.
adorable
You as well.
[And off they go their separate ways.]
