Those frequenting the dormitory lounge may find that she's transferred several books from the library. There are two different versions of the Dungeons and Dragons Handbook, and two more of some different universe’s equivalent- it's called ‘Cellars and Cryptids’, and involves some unusual rules like settling all player disputes with dance battles but yeah. The spirit is the same. Some supplies have been provided- paper and pencils mostly, a few blank character sheets, and a box full of Ridiculous Assortments Of Dice. Good luck trying to find a 20-sided one, how about a d9.36?

She's tried to do something for the visually impaired, but unfortunately the braille copy of ‘Dragons in the Dungeon’ that she found is not in fact a DnD guidebook, but some kind of trashy romance novel. Sorry. :(

Tali's Campaign Toplevel

[ Tali sets up her table in the common room with a pitcher full of iced moonberry tea, some crappy fantasy novels, and a shitton of notes and a hand-drawn map, clearly excited about this. She'd actually been thinking of it for some time? ]

Well, alright.

You all meet in a tavern. The night is gray and everything seems a blur, with drizzling rain that grows in intensity as the evening goes on. The tavern is crowded, with a woman sitting alone in the corner next to a large birdcage, as groups of people filter in. Some to drown their sorrows, some merely to escape from the rain, but all of them ignoring the eventual downpour outside.

A man stumbles into the tavern, distraught.

"Eh?"

[Ulfgar Aldheim, Dragonborn Cleric, is at a table nearest to the door, and she decides to stand up and see what the problem is.]

"What's this, now?"

[ Maddie is sitting back with her... phone out? A bright green gaming headset is around her neck, letting her mostly hear from it but also listen to what's going on at the table. Occasionally, sounds can be heard from the headset, but mostly robotic-sounding tones, not music or anything.

Zel, her brown-on-brown cat, is sitting at the table, peering at everything curiously. He, at least, doesn't seem to be batting anything off. ]

A dragonborn, tall and handsome, but in a feminine way, glances over. "Hey," she shouts, "some of us are trying to drink over here." [ Her character voice is pretty much just her normal voice, but pitched down a little bit. ]

She drinks out a giant mug. And, uh, that's it.

'Ulfgar goes to the stumbling person'?

The man looks you in the eye, his gaze shaky and unfocused. He looks as if at any moment, his face would give way to a downpour of tears, but he manages to collect himself enough to speak.

"My son's missing-" he stutters. "I've been looking for hours, just... searching everywhere, but-"

And he falters. The barkeep, a tiefling woman, glances for a moment, her gaze unwavering.

[ Normally, if this was a video game or something with less math involved, Marla would be the first person to enthusiastically run toward the activity, or at least watch from the sidelines. Well... she's watching, alright, or at least she's poking at some dice.

Instead, she just... stares at a character sheet, not really sure where to start. ]

Not sure where to start. I mean, I could start in that girl's campaign, I guess? [ She gestures to Tali. ]But I dunno, I looked over her setting and stuff and I'm not feeling it.

I don't even really have a character concept. I knew people back home who got like, really into this shit with their characters and stuff, but I'm drawing blanks.

I can help, if you'd like? I had some fun making my character, but I'd never played this before...

My brother had a character. Like... a half-orc barbarian? But then he mostly liked to get into fights and do stupid shit.

...and that's tempting, but I don't know what my playstyle's gonna be.

I think play style just has to be something that evolves naturally, right? I mean, if you want your character to do that stuff, of course, but probably you should start with something that speaks to you, you know?

And I have to say, it's quite the world.

Yeaaaah. My world didn't have a literal DM or players, but the rules were still definitely there and measurable. And somehow it all still works even though now I'm in a place where the numbers don't work like that...

Although. I'm starting to have a few questions about my own world.
