Shine on forever, shine on benevolent sun...

Who: Mercy ([personal profile] caduceusoncall) and OPEN!
What: Research, exploration, and the rarest of rare situations: relaxing!
When: IC dates April 22nd-30th
Where: All around the station and annex!
Warnings: Medical talk may come up!

All days: Station
[It doesn't take Angela long to settle into an "on duty" vibe. It's probably getting to be common knowledge that you can call her Mercy or Angela, since she's informed everyone she knows of her on-duty name and introduced herself to new people as "Angela. Mercy, if you prefer." So feel free to call her one, the other, both, neither - whatever strikes your fancy.]

[In the mornings, starting promptly at 8am, the door to room 17 slides open and remains that way until she leaves for the medical bay. Anyone passing by will notice that the apartment is remarkably clean and organized, except for the desk, which is covered in stacks of books. The woman inside is dressed in a lab coat, sometimes with casual clothing underneath and sometimes with a wingless Valykrie suit. It seems the open door is an invite to bother her with any questions, concerns, or problems you may have, as she's just milling about over books and notes and exploring the functions of the computer otherwise.]

[You can find her every afternoon in the medical bay, seated at a small desk, furiously taking notes from a stack of what appear to be medical and magical textbooks. She may seem totally engrossed, but anyone entering the med bay receives a similar pitch, shot over her shoulder without looking: "I will be with you shortly. Have a seat, unless it is urgent."]

22nd-24th: Station
[During the evenings, she can be found in the common room, reviewing her notes over a cup of black coffee. She smiles politely at anyone who passes close enough, looking equal parts tired and content. If she's in a hurry to leave this world and go home, she certainly doesn't show it.]

25-27th: Annex
[Certain evenings, instead of returning to the common room, Mercy heads out to the annex. She focuses her time in the library, becoming very well acquainted with the material there. If she's not among the shelves, she's in the center room lounge area with a stack of books at her side. She keeps taking out about 5 at a time, furiously transcribing the pertinent passages and taking notes, and then going back for another 5. Somebody explain the concept of a break to this woman, please.]

28th: Station
[Those late nights seem to have gotten to the good doctor, because she finally takes the evening of the 28th to just sit outside on the viewing deck and relax. No books, no lab coat, no notes. Just Angela Ziegler - Mercy, if you prefer - in a deck chair, eyes half-lidded as she stares out at the setting sun.]

[Disturb her > y/n?]

29th-30th: Wildcard
[The rest of the evenings, it's a crapshoot as to where you'll find her. Anywhere on the station or the annex is fair game. Her schedule is rigid during the daytime, but when the sun begins to set it seems she's just prone to wandering around and settling in various places. Just specify where you found her and when, or shoot me a pm here or on plurk ([plurk.com profile] azazelbunny) for a prompt!]

[Haaaaaaa ha ha...ha.]

Oh, he'd asked me about a routine of my vitals and the like. Are you able to do it, then?

nojohnyouare: Turning around. (you can't choose what stays)

That makes sense. It's something like that where I come from. I think. Not much to go on.

In a living body, aside from a general increased aggression, the Starscourge wasn't much more dangerous than the normal strain. The problem is rather more with the fact that those who die of it turn into daemons.

[Which is you know not great. Magical diseases are not for messing around with, even putting aside the fact that, if she's paying attention, Izunia seems a little anxious just talking about it.]

Doesn't respond much to anything but magical treatment, either. Antimalarials can stave off the progression, but they're no cure.

Magic on Eos is unfortunately linked to specific family lines; that rather limits the extent to which it can be developed.

[Yes thank you he will take that?]

The family with healing abilities - the Oracle line of the country Tenebrae - is the counterpart to mine, but I'm afraid I don't much know how their power develops. Unlike ours, not every Nox Fleuret possesses the magic. There's typically only one Oracle at a time, and a child in training. I believe the preference is for eldest daughter, but I'm not terribly certain.
nojohnyouare: Concerned look, but still guarded. (you want a revelation)

Kawasumi Mai. Sorry. Back home... I don't get out much. And elsewhere, I'm used to people knowing me now.

Oh, excellent. You're definitely working with more sophisticated medical technology than I am, too. The state of Alternian medical research is... not our finest achievement. [A little envious, a little bitter. Her home civilization is almost entirely space-based, but imperial support never goes for life-saving technology when it can go for new and exciting methods of decimating alien populations instead.

She shakes it off, though, and brightens again.]
I mean, I'm used to making do on short supplies - most of my experience is as ship's doctor with a series of small extra-legal outfits - but I certainly welcome whatever you can bring to the team. Especially since we have a few people here who are sensitive to or unaffected by Strange's magical treatments.

It seems perfectly rational to me that different worlds will work differently. It's the same as there being different laws in different countries, in a way, just on a much grander scale.

[He smiles.]

Fortunately, my own magic doesn't seem to have run into any compatibility issues. It seems that I'm safely within the umbrella of the law for this place, which is good, because I'm genuinely not sure how I would ever function without my Armiger. Elemancy and warping I could survive without, though I wouldn't particularly enjoy it, but...

I'd have to make fresh coffee in the morning like a normal person, it would be terrible and an accident waiting to happen.

[Said with amused mock dismay. How ever would he function like that?]

Not to mention that I don't think there's a coat in the world with pockets big enough for most of my weapons or my chair.

All right!

[She hops up onto the table.]

I hope you don't have problems scanning me - it's possible, after all.
nojohnyouare: Talking. (what i've become)

[personal profile] nojohnyouare 2018-05-11 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Looking around. And... Since my group came in with something. I came to tell someone about it. So nobody panics.
cyclicalconcept: (this is just awkwardly awesome)

[personal profile] cyclicalconcept 2018-05-11 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, to start, I...technically don't exist.
nojohnyouare: Contemplating. (some kind of resolution)

No. But... We have something called nanites. From space. Colonies of nanomachines in our blood. They repair us even if we die. ...That might be concerning to the medical staff.
