The way I see it, either we're here by accident like they said, and the food's safe, or we're here on purpose and there's no reason for them not to keep us in good shape. I'd rather not keep dipping into our food reserves if I can help it, since we have no easy way to eat that doesn't involve relying on this world in some capacity.
