[Izunia just gives him the 'sure you are I'm not going to argue with you' look.

But even as he does, there's the flicker of another memory, and -

I am perfectly calm repeats like a bell, like something that triggers a natural memory even though it isn't. And the scene is basically the same, except that it's utterly different. Because the Ardyn in that vision is back in his Chancellor of Niflheim gear, and the Izunia is in a sharp white suit jacket with black lining, and -

Someone who didn't know might not recognize the way that both twins are dressed, to ward the bright sunlight reflecting off the Niflheim snow from their bodies as much as possible, but anyone might recognize that they both have yellow eyes.

You're never perfectly calm, Izunia replies, almost a snap but for the way he smiles. You and perfectly calm haven't been on speaking terms for centuries.

For a long moment, Ardyn doesn't answer. He just crouches down, to better watch - well, that's Prompto in the distance, that's surely not important to anything.

Izunia sits next to him, legs dangling over the edge of the cliff, completely disregarding how the snow will surely soak into his clothes. The others aren't getting off that train any time soon, he says, leaning into Ardyn's knee. Go have fun - I know you've been waiting for this.

Ardyn chuckles in turn, the tone dark. And you haven't?

As long as I get to see Immortalis blow up, I'll be content, Izunia replies.

Liar, Ardyn says, but he runs a hand over his brother's shoulder before straightening and tossing a sword to warp after the unfortunate blond below. He pauses there, to give a cheery wave, and Izunia gives him one back from the clifftop. But I'll put on a good show, nonetheless!

And the fading out isn't so gradual this time - it's sudden, and the real Izunia has his hands pressed over his face, not exactly blocking it out but obviously stressed either way.]

Was that - did you see - ?
