The change comes when Marie listens. They go with Alice's suggestions, slipping around the other direction in the shadows rather than the by-the-book counter Marie had proposed. The soldiers they had "passed without issue" in the real world look over to where the party would have been, confused.
When the elite guard shows up on cue to ambush them, they're expected, and the party has enough of an upper hand to escape with some of the artifacts.
As the vision ends, Marie covers her face with a groan.]
