Oh, well, uh... "Mary" is so old we don't really know, but we think it probably meant "beloved." Now it's just being named after someone who was important. "Manami" means "love ocean," and "Nerissa" means "sea sprite."

...I was looking for names a while back and I kind of got into ocean names. "Meredith" means "sea lord."
