[That smell. Its brimstone and fire. And its where the plants are! Oh dear, oh dear.

There is indeed a row of plants that are now on fire when you come to see what is happening. Its quite thick and hot, and there's nothing nearby to put it out. Indeed, it seems that whoever caused this put all watering implements as far away as possible.

Which makes no sense, except...is that flower blooming? In the fire?]

[There is a brand new item hanging around in the cabinets. There are three small jars filled with a viscous golden substance. Upon popping open the jars, you find that it's honey!...very lovely-smelling honey. There is a small note on each jar that says to help yourself, so...maybe you will. You do find, should you eat it that it is delicious...

(Eating this may have effects. Not that the person who put the honey there will tell you that.)]

[Letitia is in the Lab, working on....well, Astolfo and Akira will definitely know. Its the same type of strange inscriptions from when she was trying to heat her food up, and yet they are different from before. What could they mean?

Whatever they are, the lady is concentrated on them, perfect brows furrowed deep in thought. Perhaps she could benefit from help.]

[The smell is incredibly heavy and overbearing to Kurama's keen nose. He bolts the rest of the way down when he catches it. It's only when he sees that the row of burning plants is isolated from the rest that he relaxes a little.

But...he does notice the careful distance of all the watering implements. Curiosity draws him closer despite the smell, close enough to see the blooming flower within the flames.

That's...fascinating. He's familiar with some plants that are resistant to fire, even drawn to it, but they aren't usually flowers and this looks almost like it needs the fire.

He extends a delicate thread of energy to the bloom, encouraging its growth.]

[The flower seems...confused. At least, as confused as a quasi-sentient plant can be.

Soon enough, though, it blooms further, growing a bit larger as it does so. Its petals are black, and its center even more so. It's like a black rose, and its brethren seem to absorb the heat it doesn't meed to bloom into sharply-thorned bushes.]

[What the heck is up with these people and their honey?

Ok, so yes, she is willing to more or less accept the explanation she'd been given when the beehive in the agricultural floor had been introduced, that earth's bees produce honey that's actually totally safe to eat. Jetshard's still seen enough cases of mind honey overdose in her day to be cautious of a substance that bears such a strong resemblance to the stuff.

Not to mention that, when the general assumption is that the contents of the pantry are for public use, the fact that whoever left this here felt the need to further encourage others to partake... seems a bit dicey to her. Just a bit.

So here's a troll, frowning thoughtfully into an open, but otherwise untouched, jar of honey.]

[Given how many plants aren't even quasi-sentient, that's still pretty confused by plant standards.

Kurama stays a safe distance back from the fire, more or less, but watches intently, expression curious and appreciative.]

Well, aren't you lovely? I wonder who you belong to...

[And what it does. Because he doesn't believe for a moment that it does nothing but bloom in fire.]

[Oh, Astolfo definitely knows what's going on here: nothing good. He marches into the lab, hands on his hips disapprovingly.]

What are you trying to do now?!

[It's...well, it looks like normal honey on the outset. It smells like roses.

Meanwhile, there is someone in the kitchen, looking on.]

Would you like bread with that, dear?

[And that is when the bee comes in. Its buzzing is pretty loud, so there's no way to not hear it. It starts to hover over one of the other black roses, letting out a strange sound.

It's...definitely bigger than a normal bee. It seems to emanate heat along with the rose.]

Oh, now, I did warn you.

[Yeah, those look like the symbols Astolfo looked at before.]

I am compiling information. While it is not magic, the writing surfaces in here are among the few items that can contain what I must write.

You shouldn't have been doing it in the first place!

[He tries not to look at the symbols for too long, for whatever good that might do him at this point.]

Oh, that is quite harmless. Its a honey. A very sweet and lovely foodstuff. Not quite to my tastes, but...

The only widely-produced honey in Alternian space is an industrial byproduct that causes mania and potentially acute hyperpsionic stimulation when consumed, so you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little shy of the stuff.

[Not that she's got the psionic powerset to worry about blowing anything up while high on honey, but it's the principle of the thing. You don't put the mind honey in your mouth.]

Is it yours? Since you seem so confident of what it is. And I'm pretty sure it's just shown up in the last couple of days.

It is. But my goodness, the honey I've created doesn't do such things! Its quite safe to consume, and satisfying.

[There's something about the way Letty says "created" that doesn't quite sit right with Jetshard. She's willing to allow that she may be being paranoid, influenced by her upbringing in ways that don't translate well to anticipating the behavior of aliens, but well...]

And not that I disbelieve you, but if you were to have potentially mind-altering substances you wished to share, I'd appreciate it as a member of the medical staff if you'd identify them as such before offering them around? A bad trip is usually simpler to correct or ride out than an accidental overdose.

I suppose my honey may cause drowsiness, but...other than that, I could hardly say that anything else negative would occur. Nor can someone "accidentally" overdose? One can't really overdose on honey. There is little such thing that I am aware of.

[A pause.]

Red honey, though. I don't usually partake in creating such a thing, but if you happen to see any red honey of unknown provenance, I should suggest handing it over to me. Just in case.
