What: Akira can now change into a kitten and a merman! Also there are throwing knives!
When: Week after intro for kitten, and then two weeks after intro for Merkira. Knife practice is a Throughout The Month thing.
Where: Beach for knives practice and ocean for the Merkira thing. Then, it's literally everywhere else for kitten prompt, because lbr Cats Get Into Everything.

Kitten Around


[ Maybe it's as they're busy with something, maybe it's just within the corner of their eye, or... maybe it's something to be heard, rather than seen.

Either way, there's a small floof that's running loose around here. The tiny kitten will be taking advantage of its small size to launch sneak attacks on someone's feet - namely if they have shoelaces that can be played with.

The little mysterious bundle of energy will also be doing its best to sneak up behind anyone who's sitting on the couch to just... gently attack their hair or lightly pat their shoulder, before just... running away??

Knife to Meet You Practice

[ Back on the human side of things, Akira's having fun with his emotions no longer being inflicted on people against his will. Also knives. He's set up a board and attached it to a nice, broad boulder. It's been marked the same way a dart board would be, and... well, what better way to get skilled in using throwing knives?

Maybe they're catching him when he first starts out. In which case, he's not even remotely hitting his target. It's... about as far away from the target as he could get, without missing the board entirely. Whoops.

Granted, after some practice (and some learning out how to properly hold the damn thing, thanks to Ignis!!!), he manages to hit right in the center...! ]

[ Whoops, he's doing one of those tiny dance-in-place-of-excitement things???? DON'T JUDGE HIM...

Later on, he will be sitting down and watching some anime called Oturan about ninja and some loud guy in lime green and some asshole with hair shaped like a pigeon's butt. Also there sure is a lot of udon love in this thing... ]

... I feel like I've seen this before.

[ It's... honestly out of nowhere. One second, he's finishing up with his shower, the next he's dropping to the floor of the shower, releasing a quiet hiss of pain when his elbow smacks against the wall of it.

He hadn't even had a chance to turn the water off, which... he could be kind of grateful for? One hand reaches to poke a finger at the tail. This is the same coloration he had in that dungeon a while back. Why is he only just now changing back into this? Can the effects really be this delayed for some people? It's with a quiet sigh, he runs a finger through his damp hair, and does take a moment to try... willing himself back to normal? Alas, no cigar.

He has no idea if he made enough noise to alert at least one fiance, and... might as well make sure anyway: ]

Hey, uh... [ since there's no getting himself to the ocean ] ... A little help?



[ And it's after having been helped to the ocean, he can be found swimming around! Since he did kind of miss being able to do this, he'll be out here for a while until he decides to lie on the beach for a bit, waiting for it to wear off. Fortunately, it does wear off... for the time being. He'll be winding up out here, at random, for the next three days, until he finally figures out how to control it... ]

[She's just been sitting around reading when suddenly there's a kitten attacking the shoelaces of her boots. She watches for a few moments, before grinning. Her hair falls as it's freed from the ponytail it was in, held up by a glowing white hair ribbon... that she now dangles within the kitten's reach.]

[ Mission: Make Akana Smile... Success.

... Though, it would seem that the plan has backfired a tiny bit. He peers at that ribbon for a moment, his tail swishing a bit...

And then he's launching himself at it! ]

[God, what the hell, that's so cute. She giggles as she lets him capture the ribbon, then starts trying to tug it away... Maybe letting her hand get within capturing range.]

[Mai has probably seen Naruto on the cover of a magazine somewhere, but not enough to actually recognize it.]

Harriet is in the library, slumped in a chair, staring at a book on magic. She exhausted herself that morning at kung fu class (can't even call it Fight Club yet in her case as she's neither skilled, strong, fast nor fit enough yet to fight anyone), she probably hasn't drunk enough water, and her brain is just shutting down in self-defense against the dreadful abstruse prose.

She closes her eyes, and then immediately opens them again as something starts batting at the turquoise-beaded hairtie securing the end of her braid.

"Oh my God," she says, rescuing her hair before the kitten can undo it, "are you the cutest thing? You are, you absolutely are the cutest thing! Yes!"

In moments she's conjured a springy dangly thing made of non-light and is gently bouncing it near the floor for the kitten to play with while she murmurs goofy words of encouragement.

[Well, Shido normally just Does Not animals, frankly? This would be no exception, really, with the black kitten attacking his feet... if he wasn't aware that this cute ball of fuzz was actually his practically adopted son by now Akira in the shape of animated soot.]

Well well, what do we have here?

[He's going to kneel down and waggle his fingers enticingly at the kitten with a thoroughly amused smirk.]

[ He lightly rubs at the back of his neck. ]

Yeeeeah... when I was kid, there was something almost exactly like this on TV all the time. It looks like the same general plot, at least.

[ There's a nod at the question. ]

I've got to admit, this kid has good taste... I kind of miss udon.

Holy shit.

Akira, if he could make faces, would probably make a face at this gushing... If not for the fact that some part of him kind of likes it? More than he thinks he would as a human?? There's a soft purr-like sound (he's... getting the hang of that sound, slowly) as the toy is bounced near the floor.

Quietly, there's a sound that's similar to something between a soft growl and a meow as he attempts to attack it!!! Let 'im at it!!!

[ Yep, he has... no clue that Shido knows it's him, so he's glad to see this is brightening the older man's mood, already.

Oho~ Looks like he's being given a suitable target, too. There's a moment where he butt wiggles switches his weight between each hind leg, before he moves in to attack that entire hand. He's gonna do it!! He's gonna capture that hand!!! ]

Harriet deftly zigzags the dangly bit of the toy, letting the kitten get his paws on it from time to time, but mostly keeping it an inch or two out of his reach. Sometimes she bounces it high, trying to get him to rear up or jump.

After about five minutes, she allows him to get a solid grip on the dangle, long enough for him to celebrate his victory with a little gnawing, before vanishing the toy--and creating a small jingling bell-sphere for him to bat around on the floor, with the additional property that, when she feels like it or if it threatens to get stuck under something, it can suddenly change course.

[Is there really any question of whether Morgana would be in the kitchen when someone was making seafood? Morgana is lurking on the counter, eagerly watching Akira's sushi preparation, when..... suddenly there's no Akira anymore? What is this, the #whatthefluffchallenge?

Morgana looks around in bewilderment, hesitates a moment..... then leans over the counter and peers down, spotting a tiny black cloud of fluff that definitely wasn't there before.]

.....Akira.....? You okay?

[ That hand itself has his ears perking up a bit, and he outright pauses his ribbon slaughter to stare at that hand for a moment.

His tail is swishing rapidly... and then he moves in to tackle her hand, gently! ]

[ The black cloud of fluff is... definitely confused. ]

Uhhh...

[ Said fluff's voice is way higher than Akira's should be, and it's having a Time with its legs. It decides to just. Sit for now, its head tilted as it peers waaaaaaay up at where Morgana is. ]

Did I... shrink?

[ UMMM....... looking down tells him that this isn't even his body. What happened???? ]

[Hopefully that ribbon doesn't end up shredded by the end of this...

She lets out a soft, delighted laugh as her hand's tackled, but makes no effort to move it out of the way.]

The most ferocious little predator, aren't you?

[Yeah, that's..... that's Akira's voice, he's pretty sure. Higher and softer, more childish, but then again..... Morgana snorts, covering his mouth with a paw; he only manages to half-stifle the laugh.]

I'll say! A kitten that small..... what are you, two months old? Less?

[At least he's not rolling on the counter laughing his tail off at him? He jumps down to the floor to join Akira instead.]

[ Nah, he's being very careful not to outright damage it~

And, at those words... he can't actually help the (attempted) purr that escapes. Eventually, he starts to tire out, however, and just... flops??? He's... still getting used to the leg strength on this body, after all. ]

[Well, there's that. It'll probably be her biggest hint that the kitten is an occupant in the station...

She gasps a little at the attempted purr (that's too cute), and then melts into giggles as he flops. She'll lean down and try to scoop him up so she can put him on her lap.]

W-...ait, I'm...

[ Why did he become a kitten!!! ]

... Seriously...?

[ He's going to move to stand, trying to crane his neck to get a better look at himself. ]

And it's not funny!

[ He's gonna just! try to swat at Morgana!!! ... Only to fall over, whoops. ]

[ Oh-...

There are a few soft blinks as he's lifted, since... his body kind of just goes completely limp in her hands. Not that he's afraid? If anything, this feels kind of nice. After he's in her lap, there's another swell of something new to him...

And it results in him leaning to gently headbutt her hand. ]

The jumping is a challenge! And it's one he accepts every single time, even when it results in him falling over (which is fortunately rare!) or stumbling.

His ears perk up quite a bit when that string-like thing suddenly vanishes, and his head turns to look around. But, then there's something that makes sound coming into play, and that's...!! So much better, holy crap! He's immediately zooming around, batting at the sphere with intense focus.

Aww...

[After he headbutts her hand, she starts gently scratching behind his ears with a finger.]

Ahahahahahahaha! That's adorable!

[It's not funny, it's hilarious. He's too stubby-legged and uncoordinated to even stay balanced during a simple swat! Is it any wonder he can't hold it back any longer? He's never even seen a kitten this young before!]

Just you wait... [ moving to stand! ] I'm gonna put tape on your paws, the next time you fall asleep around me.

Just you try it! You're napping too when I'm asleep around you here, remember?

[And otherwise, Akira would have to get past the other Akira to do it. He's totally safe! As long as she doesn't decide it would be fun to help with the prank, that is.]

Without fully meaning to, he leans into the scratches, his eyes contentedly closing. ]
